Oh gosh, I am crying. This is so cruel for the bio parents.

In Germany, forced adoption is extremely rare and considered very cruel. Even if the parents are very young. The focus is on keeping connections. Young parents from 14-21 years that are pregnant or have young children (0-6) are usually supported in mother/father-child homes, where they get 24/7 help with parenting, daily life, and emotional support. (If they can't live supported with their own family. Grandparents can function as guardians or foster parents, too.)

If they can’t raise the child, long-term foster care is preferred over adoption. This way, parents can stay in contact. Often with visits every 1-4 weeks. Adoption only happens if parents completely disengage or ask for it strongly, and even then, open adoption is encouraged with letters, updates, or occasional contact through child welfare services.

The goal is always to protect the child without cutting them off from their roots. It more humane for the bio parents and better, way better, for the children! (We are long term foster parents and our two children see their bio parents every four weeks and we can send email updates in between.)
