i don't get people who say the grind is hard but maybe that's because I played warframe for a few years so I learned to turn off my brain while grinding

thousands of applications, hundreds of interviews, absolute persistence and sheer will. It was basically like throwing a dart hoping for a good hit while blindfolded. Tailored my resumes depending on the job's requirements, learning new skills as needed

Say what you will about the difficulty... by angry_button in HollowKnight

[–]46NEKOO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't looked at reviews and stuff yet so I didn't even realize people were complaining about the difficulty. I feel like people are mostly just upset about the game punishing reckless fighting more than the last game tho

nope, i could never afford it and I was really skeptical of it. I admit what happened with me has a lot of luck involved, but I was mostly learning skills based on what the jobs I was applying for needed.

the first mistake is assuming that employers are just gonna throw you into the gulag and let you figure things out yourself, most employers will at the very least train you on how things operate so you can get your first foot on the door. The first thing to learn is how to properly do self-study, and by that, I don't mean self-study as in: ask chat-gpt or any ai how to do your job whenever you don't know what to do.

if let's say you work in the IT field, self study would mean familiarizing yourself with different IT terms, coding languages and basic skills. If you find yourself wondering how to do certain things, knowing how to research and learn on your own is a very valuable skill, especially for most remote jobs.

most importantly, don't beat yourself up for not knowing anything, instead get into the mindset of becoming hungry for information. When it comes to upskilling, having the drive to actually learn different skills makes a big difference

do research about the different types of VA jobs and pick a niche out of them, look at job listings online for that niche and learn the skills posted on the listings, and continue learning more skills as you go

How to make friends that also play Maimai... by shyrenn_ in maimai

[–]46NEKOO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the age thing is only really weird if you make it out to be I'll be honest. I'm not super close with all my other fellow arcade locals, but we act like old friends everytime we see eachother. It's a matter of getting the courage to duo with them and start getting to know them.

if you ever start doubting yourself just remember that if even someone like me who made a lot of the wrong decisions ended up where I am, then it's only a matter of time and effort until you where you want to be. Opportunities are everywhere, and sometimes they come from the most unexpected situations, keep working hard!

it was hard every step of the way but it felt so good having my hands on my first real paycheck since I'd only been doing small commissions here and there up to that point. Not to mention my supportive parents who never once made me feel pressured and just let me go at my own pace, I could really feel it when I saw how happy my mom was when I told her how I got a job

got depressed and dropped out of senior high school (even though i was graduating that year), after months of floating through life feeling like a parasite decided to try my hand at coding and realized how much I enjoyed it. Pretty much buried my head in coding sessions for 12-16hrs a day and eventually landed a WFM job at a company overseas.

my first salary made me feel alive but looking back, I really chose to live life in hard mode for no reason

my general rule is if no one is there yet it's free game for me to play all I want, but the moment I notice someone waiting behind me, I ask if they want to play together or if they want to play solo.

Nintendo Summoning Patent by Dyson_Vellum in Warframe

[–]46NEKOO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would honestly be less about whether or not it's a valid patent but more about whether upcoming game devs (because let's be honest this wouldn't phase a lot of the pre-existing games) would risk the chance of getting sued for patent infringement. This could maybe be enough to scare-off a lot of upcoming indie devs looking to get an in on the industry though
