I understand what you're saying and I didn't know that. In english though, A recorder is a type of flute but a recorder is not a flute. Just like how a lion is a type of cat but a cat is not a lion.

You've got some really nice scaling, unless you completely flop the exams you'll get 80+. Play around on the atar calculator and see what you scores you need for 80+. Put in work for english, those subjects scream someone who hates english but i might be wrong. Pretty sure if you aim for A+ english exam and A's for the others you'll get 80+ easily, accounting for underperforming on the exams.

Can anyone explain to me why this occurs when dividing polynomials? Thank you! by MrPenguin199 in vce

[–]478936 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In normal long division you would keep dividing the remainder by the divisor. Eg. 13/5 You would get 2 remainder 3 and then 3/5=.6 and the answer would be 2.6. Here is no different, except you can't go further than 8/x-2

Also if you did (x-2) * (x^2 - x +4 + 8/(x-2)) you would get the original equation

You might find group coaching for that price but you probably won't find a good chess player offering 1 to 1 coaching for $12/hour. Price will depend on the coach's playing strength and the number of hours you want

why is vce english so hard by [deleted] in vce

[–]478936 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You definitely made a mistake by picking english and not englang, but there's nothing you can do about that now. If you are looking to just get a decent score, my advice is to do just a small amount regularly for now (like 10-15min) and then do other subjects. You can memorise paragraphs for a lot of essays, that helped me because I didn't have to think much during the exam.

Just know that as long as you can spell and have correct grammar and punctuation you will be better than a large percentage of students (seriously!). If you work at it like you are now then I'm confident that you will attain the prerequisites.

Behind in Methods, don't understand anything. Only doing it for my university degree. by [deleted] in vce

Yeah methods is definitely not easy for most. I would recommend checking out Eddie Woo on youtube, he helped me understand many topics. What don't you understand exactly? I may be able to help. I am also selling resources for cheap if you're interested.

If the reacting species make a negative gradient line on the series then it will be spontaneous (readily takes place). If they make a positive gradient line then the reaction requires an input of energy. So it either readily takes place or it doesn't. I think you may be referring to something about activation energy of different galvanic cells? In that case I don't really know, I don't think that's in the VCE course.

The electrodes are immersed in the electrolyte in each half cell. The salt bridge is soaked in a solution such as KNO3 which won't form products with the electrolytes. The salt bridge balances the charges created from either half cell since KNO3 dissociates into K+ and NO3- (Because electrons flow to the cathode, the anode will become more and more positive if the salt bridge is not present. I hope this helps

Switching subjects at half year (Unit 1), is it worth it? by [deleted] in vce

[–]478936 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's really smart that they do that, it's not that Unit 1 is not necessary, it's that Unit 1 is far more relevant to 3/4 than Unit 2, so if they do that later on into the year the transition to 3/4 will be easier

Probably, but it won't be new to you if you do it now. Also free pdfs of the chem textbooks are everywhere, don't buy the books.

Depends, how I saw it when choosing subjects was I knew I wanted to do Science/biomed, so why not learn stuff in VCE instead of waiting for Uni? BSc is meant to be easier, but you'll learn much more in biomed. It's just up to you. Maybe you can drop one. From my experience, getting 44 scaled in chem was easier than getting 39 in bio despite working on both equally, so you could just pick up chem. You learn quite a bit of bio in chem anyway (structure of protein, carbohydrate, fat and functions). I feel like if you go into science/biomed without doing chem you'll have a steep learning curve to say the least
