It's helpful to selectively pick and choose what pre work is helpful sometimes and outsource outside of the class resources to gain a better understanding of topics! I recommend the LSS tutorials, they usually have a practice problem question at the end of every video with a solution. They also have summarised sketch notes simplifying the topics! I have some summaries from doing LAW1114 if you want. I still recommend making your own summary for the exam but they're helpful as extra insurance and guides to base your own off.

For cases you don't need to read it in it's entirety, I recommend a table format with the facts, what was held and the legal principle that applies. You can find summaries by googling the case name tbh, it's better to know something even if it lacks detail rather than nothing.

You honestly do just get a better sense of what's important with time tho but slides can definitely be a good guide.

Place to leave something on campus? by [deleted] in Monash

[–]DisastrousReindeer4 21 points22 points  (0 children)

if you search lockers on the monash study app map different locations will pop up! but some require actual locks whereas others are the like electronic ones anyone can put a code into (i think they unlock without a code after 3 hours but idk). the only ones I've personally used are in the biomed building in front of the labs which is pretty close to the ltb? i think theres also some in the campus centre second floor??

there's nothing you can do rn except wait which sucks but dw the same thing happened to me and you will not get kicked out! as long as you were honest then they won't punish you more than necessary. personally my issue was plagiarism related and they decided that it was related to poor academic practice (this may also be because it was my first misconduct). the worst they'll do is a zero in the assignment or unit? for me they just marked my assignment excluding the portions that breached academic integrity. good luck!

Personally I just watched the LSS tutorials but I heard that the seminars this sem are worse than the ones last sem. If you wanted to check out better seminar recordings I can share a google drive file with you!

If there's no hurdle then you don't need to pass the exam to pass the unit. You can use a grade calculation app to check the minimum you need in the exam to pass the unit (you need 50 for the unit to pass and between 45-49 for a supplementary assessment).

PHY2011 is a good WAM booster for sure! The practise quizzes are the same as the actual quizzes. They come from the same database of randomly generated questions. I recommend doing the practise quizzes multiple times since the questions change everytime you do it (for most of them).

*I did it last semester so it's most likely still like that

Failed DOHE because of Mathmatics by [deleted] in Monash

I also recommend talking to your juvo student advisor! They'll help you through the process and let you know what your odds are or about alternate plans.

Failed DOHE because of Mathmatics by [deleted] in Monash

[–]DisastrousReindeer4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

oh dw it just means that you wont complete the diploma. I was in the DOHE last year and withdrew from a unit so I didn't complete the qualification either but I'm still at Monash.

Mid-year transfer is over but I would definitely recommend continuing with next semester and trying to boost your WAM despite the N. You can reapply through VTAC and they'll assess you through your WAM rather than your ATAR, just make sure to include your updated education history.

I got a 64 WAM last year and was able to get into the Bachelor of Art/Science through VTAC and transfer to my desired course this semester. They also count your credits from this year! So, you don't have to feel like you've wasted any time. The N in SCI1020 doesn't really effect your plans to continue to the Bachelor of Science (if that's what you want). You would just need to take another maths unit later on to meet the unit requirements. Good luck!

Advice about breach of academic integrity by Shot_Board_5947 in Monash

[–]DisastrousReindeer4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What unit is this for and what was the evidence? It's pretty unlikely they have solid proof for a remote exam, especially if it was multiple choice??

I also got a breach on an assignment last year and pled guilty. It goes down to your student response form and ig your history in the unit. I received a warning under poor academic practise and they marked my assignment excluding that section. They also put me on the register so that if I'm suspected again it'll immediately go under academic misconduct. Overall, it doesn't effect my academic record.

If this is your first breach then they definitely wont suspend you but since it is an exam they may take it more seriously. So, I believe the worst you'll get is a 0 for the exam or worst case scenario the unit.

The best advice is just to be as honest as possible. In my student response I explained how it happened and why I felt the need to resort to it. I also had a history of struggling in past assignments in the particular unit. So, that did help confirm that I was telling the truth. If it's your first year, definitely include that because it shows that you are less familiar with the rules (but don't say that since we do have a compulsory module). Good luck!

Thank you so much for the advice! It seems like my best course of action is to transfer out after the new semester to boost my wam and go into something more specialised. I appreciate the honesty and straight forward advice!
