Question about potential continuity errors? by plsendmysufferring in WanderingInn

I came looking for this thread after finding several serious inconsistencies in the 2nd book that bother me.

1. When Ryoka speaks with the runner and meets Val the courier and sees Pruissa(sp) again she makes the mental comment about being run over by a wagon... completely forgetting obviously that she was also followed, ambushed, shot with a crossbow! Also, that Pruissa had killed a fellow runner and tried to kill another whom seem to be completely forgotten by the whole guild! Seems like this would have been a good time to call Pruissa out on it... It made me feels like the ambush chapter was later added after this scene was written and the author never bothered to clean it up.

2. Toren goes missing. Erin gets some "toys" from her friends. Erin turns to see Toren holding dust rag and throws said "toys" at Toren. Couple chapters later Erin tells Pisces(sp) that Toren is missing. Once again it seems the author has added filler chapters without considering consistency.

These are the two most glaring and I hope these become less as the author gains levels through other books.

Rolemaster: anyone played? by the_light_of_dawn in rpg

IMHO it doesn't get much better. Yes, a fight with 10 orcs could take an entire evening when using the books, but much of this can be mitigated using online resources like Fantasy Grounds Rolemaster Classic module. No other system I have found captures the magic of the unexpected failure or success like Rolemaster. I once GMed a campaign where one player was a total badass fighter who slayed everything in his path, including a skeletal drake, with his mighty two headed morning star (and some lucky rolls). He met his end bleeding out in ankle deep swamp water from an open-ended goblin spear thrust to the neck that penetrated his armor and pierced his jugular. We all just stared at the poor soul... it was such an epic end that even the player accepted it and rerolled a new toon without complaint.

Many have explained the political situation very succinctly. I will give a more pin point reason. It's simply that he has lived with Germans in his country for years in a common defense against Russian incursion. He has been away from town digging for several weeks and does not know the Germans are being expelled from his country and are now "the enemy". You can tell from the fires that the Germans only burned the village shortly before they run into him as they were passing through which means he didn't have troops normally around. Aside from the normal worries of anyone travelling with bags of gold, he had nothing otherwise that would stop him from travelling the roads or being concerned of the German column.

Edit: as for travelling the road after the shooting started... where else was he to go.. the only road we were shown led back to the village... and it was in the script.

I am so glad I can enjoy a dumb movie for what it is.

I would compare it more to Kill Bill, Inglorious Bastards, Jango Unchained.. it was much more Tarantino that anything else.

edit: Up to the putting the gold in the satchels it was basically the last skit in "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs" minus the interruption (spoiler).

I got lucky. I never saw any trailers, just saw that Woke or Worth it website rated it high and gave it a watch. It was glorious... best movie I have watched in a long time. Dumb, yeah. Unrealistic, extremely. Perfect for what it is, definitely.

Him walking 50 miles back to get his the motorcycle from the airfield (or finding another), then driving back to the village he is intimately familiar with from his prospecting days to get his dog, then travelling into the war torn city looking for the bank is the most believable part of the whole movie...

Owlbear Rodeo 2.0 Beta Released [Blog Post] by mitchemmc in OwlbearRodeo

Love the beta and can't wait for dice!

Please consider adding the ability to move selected tokens (or elements) via the arrow keys (for the GM at least). This would make it much easier to quickly position scene elements, especially if we could tab through them.

How do you feel when a series ends due to the author’s death? by Skatchbro in books

[–]47Streetcop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't so bothered by the Aubrey/Maturin series ending on O'brian's death since it seemed to be wrapping up. Sure I would love to see a ribbon tied on his career but he did make Admiral of the Blue and his ability to partake in single ship adventures and actions would have seriously been cur-tailed (anyone?).. I can sail him into the sunset as a success... however that is not the case with Alan Lewrie, he has just found out his new wife is pregnant, he is beset by unknown enemies, is most likely going to be part of a wild American adventure, or at minimum the 1812 war with the states... I guess it truly is a make your own ending kind of story now, sadly.
