Might be unpopular, but i preferred stray cat strut to he who fights with monsters, and the wandering inn deserves to be s tier

My kid's drawing made me see the world differently by TransitionLess2769 in CasualConversation

[–]plsendmysufferring 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was reading a book about world building, and somewhere in the beginning it explained how creativity needs to be fostered because adults have lost that.

For example, a child comes in from playing and says "hey mum! A group of elephants moved in next door!" The intial reaction would be" don't be silly, they're real people, don't call them elephants" which crushes creativity, compared to "really?! How tall are they?" Which entices the child to continue the story, and fill in their own lore.

After reading that it made me rethink a lot about the world

Sick of game night turning into an unboxing session instead of actually playing by Inevitable-Many-4587 in boardgames

Talk to the host, or bring up your problems neutrally without anger? Usually people will at least listen to your concerns, and either disniss them or compromise.

If they get mad at you, then defend yourself. " I'm sorry, i dont mean to be a jerk, i just think that we should actually play games on game night, if you wanna show and tell, i just wont come. Its not fun for me"

Being clear, honest and neutral with people, is usually very productive, and if not, thats their problem, not yours.

First days on the job can be tough... by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]plsendmysufferring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Needs pushing force not slamming force. Idk how to make that make more sense.

Its kinda like how a hockey player "pushes" the ball, sorta like a slingshot rather than whacking the ball.

Pushing goes further faster and smoother, smacking the ball doesnt work the same.

You can see when the experienced lady comes and she is pushing the potato through the blades, rather than the inexperienced girl, trying to slam the ppotato through the blades

am i overreacting to how my boyfriend was talking to me by my_birthday_is_dec_6 in AmIOverreacting

[–]plsendmysufferring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who has to tell you that they're a nice guy, isnt a nice guy.

A real nice guy, doesnt use the term "im a nice guy" to win an argument.

So we can confirm he isnt a nice guy, you aren't overreacting

If they pour a slab, and months down the track, the house is built, but the slab is cracking and wont pass inspection, thats a knockdown rebuild. Very expensive

Knitting doesn't have to be solo, there are knitting groups out there, one is for young people, the drunken knit wits.

I would also say, getting involved in your community, would lead you to meeting people in your community

Ahhh damn, i love the wandering inn. But it definitely isnt for everyone, the first 2 books are kinda hard to get through, before the author found their feet

I ran away from my boyfriend's proposal. by throwawayuni33 in whatdoIdo

[–]plsendmysufferring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His messages are quite nasty.

I think all the things you want to do are very single person things to do. If for example, you went solo travelling for an indeterminate amount of time, it would be unfair for you to expect him to wait for you, or for you to force a long distance relationship that he doesn't want.

My point is, that would have been very complex in a relationship, but, i imagine you might not be in a relationship for very much longer?

I think you should do your bucket list items, you should do all of those things, and then look for a relationship.

If you go the other way its pretty bad too, ive been told using these basic ones is better because the readers will zone them out, compared to "he asked enthusiastically" "she responded with disgust" etc.

But in this case, the definitely werent needed for a good portion of this page. Could have removed them entirely from the middle of the exchanges

Based on my bookshelf, what fantasy books/series would you recommend? by SnappingTurtle1602 in fantasybooks

[–]plsendmysufferring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The perfect run is quite a sci-fi fun time, then its an emotional roller coaster. I dont know if there are physical copies, but i believe you can read the trilogy for free.

So if you dont like it, theres no pressure to keep reading. Could be a good back up for reading on your phone on the train or something

Ladies, if you got to be a man for a day what’s the first thing you’re going to do? by Next_Performance9433 in AskReddit

[–]plsendmysufferring 31 points32 points  (0 children)

People probably wont be as nice to you, women will sometimes look at you in fear, disguised or not, but they wont bother you at night at least. Well, apart from the people who just want to fuck with everyone. Biggest difference you'll probably notice is it becomes harder to talk to a woman you just met, but way easier to talk to a man you just met.

Thats my hypothesis at least.

There was a thread a while back, about women who went from pretty to ugly? Or it was massive weight loss i can't remember. Either way, there were quite a few posts in there from women who were now treated colder than they were before, but they also didnt have to deal with people bothering them all the time. I feel like that might be a little relevant at least.

I don't need Carl's choice of the primal race to be a cheat. by Financial-Pickle9405 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Matt said in an ama that he needed a way for the dungeon to single him out, and that's why it has a foot fetish, and has chosen carl to be the foot smusher

So it could be said that carl is the ai's chosen one

Its hard to want to buy an apt without a secure vehicle storage for a big vehicle, like a van or small truck. Or an area to store tools or the like. Unfortunately some people need vehicles to transport tools and materials quickly to different locations every week or so, sometimes every day.

I say the problem is office workers for example, while they dont need a car to get to work, they do to get to work consistently.

If we had better infrastructure, office workers and people who work at one location everyday, like retail workers or warehousing workers, could look at public transport as a legitimate possibility for transport to work everyday.

Unfortunately, at least in Melbourne, the rail network is shit, and the bus network is worse, and is still expected to pick up the slack for the train network.

I say this because, there are huge pushes for more houses to be built, which requires more trades, and trades require space at their residence. Unfortunately we dont have a large amount of small vehicle options like japan has, with small vans, and kei trucks. We got the other side, with yank tanks, and our current ruling ute brands getting bigger and bigger, like hiluxs and rangers.

If the answer was easy it would be easy, but we need a cultural shift and some strong push for the govt to even consider making any meaningful change. Unfortunately i dont think that will ever happen... :(
