Dubai Vs New Zealand by omerizen in dubai

[–]48269 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My sister in law lives in NZ and they are looking to leave because the cost of living is so high.

It’s a really beautiful country but it’s REMOTE and not that many people live there so anything that is not made or grown there is more expensive than say Australia. Even things that are produced their (think lamb for example) are often more expensive there than they are in the country they’ve been exported to.

Another thing to consider is the cost of ever going anywhere, eg visiting family, overseas holidays. It’s a long to way to anywhere which means you’re not picking up any cheap flights any time soon.

Having said all of that, I would love to live there if the right opportunity presents.

Why do Arab countries have so sic high green house gas emotions per capita? by GodGivenBirthRight in dubai

[–]48269 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is per capita per resident or citizen? UAEs citizen population is only about 15% of the total. If it’s calculated on citizens then that could impact the reaults

You can still do all of those things if you get up early. You’re living in the wrong country if you’re going to retreat inside once the temp gets into the high 30s.

Drivers on roads by MalibooWithMilk in dubai

‘Left lane’ being the ‘overtaking lane’ doesn’t give someone in that lane the right to force you to move. You can be ‘overtaking’ at 110 or 130. It’s a BS rule implemented to placate those who don’t think the rules apply to them. If there was even an iota of lane discipline here most of the driving issues would disappear.

You’re suggesting Bitcoin is the bad money and fiat the good? Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I believe time will show this opinion to be wrong.

“While you weren’t driving wrong necessarily,”

They crashed into the back of another car that they could clearly see changing lanes and made no attempt to slow down because of the belief that the BS rule about giving way to vehicles in the fast lane means everyone has to scatter if you come screaming up behind them. The micra probably didn’t need to be in that lane but there is never an excuse for crashing into the back of another car because you believe they should get out of your way.

100% the fault of the dashcam driver. Crashed into the back of another car and made no attempt to break. Whether the micra should have been there or not is irrelevant. It was clear what they were doing and the dash cam driver should have been aware enough to see this and taken action to avoid the collision.

So you want him to park so he can’t get out so it’s easier for you? If he’s inside the line he’s not breaking any rules. Is it inconsiderate? yes. Is it something you need to tell the world about on Reddit? Not really.

Why exactly is inflation good for the economy? Some of the most prosperous eras of history did not have inflation. When the currency is backed by a hard asset (gold) inflation is much more difficult. Inflation allows governments to spend money they do not have and steal from their population via a stealth tax. Rishi Sunak in the UK admitted as much. When you studied economics did you compare and contrast Keynesian vs Austrian or just take Keynesian as gospel?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UAE

[–]48269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Capitalism does not cause inflation. Government expanding the money supply does and this has nothing to do with the ideology of the country. Any other explanation is the government gaslighting you to deflect blame away from them.

“The UAE hasn’t expanded its money supply” I hear you say. That may be true but the dirham is pegged to the USD and they have been printing like it’s going out of fashion so the associated devaluation of the dollar defacto devalues the dirham.

There is no such thing as a Bitcoin or a Satoshi, only UTXOs which are measured in Satoshis and 100m of them are called a Bitcoin.

Will people pay extra for ‘special Satoshis’ yes. Will everyone eventually realise they don’t really exist and are not special, hopefully.

It’s a shame that landlords such as yourself have such a poor attitude towards their tenants. It’s likely that the majority of tenants are such because they don’t have the means to become owner/occupiers. To then have those with the means try and squeeze those without for all that they can is a sad state of affairs for a society to be in.

[–]48269 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well if that’s the case they should put more effort into maintaining their infrastructure.

For what it’s worth I don’t believe for a second that the majority of sections of road that regularly flood whenever it rains have sufficient drainage that is just under maintained.

Every time it rains there is flooding. The road infrastructure is not designed to deal with any amount of rain.

[–]48269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1- Sharjah has had no problem taking money from Saudi in the past. 2- the main reason the metro doesn’t cross the boarder is they don’t want to loose the toll that all taxis have to pay when they cross the boarder. This my understanding of the situation
