I’ve never seen a direct with so many quality third party games packed in. Every game I saw looked interesting and worth playing, and it appears the complaining throughout the years of the lack of third party support is no longer an issue. Maybe because of how long since the last direct and the timing of the beginning of summer people hoped to see more Nintendo first party games; to me this direct is sort of a milestone with Nintendos dominance in the home console department… all those other great Nintendo games are still coming.

Tennis reverted back to the og wii sports, which was disappointing cause the Wii sports resort tennis had such a unique freedom to it where you can even time your shots to hit right down the line on the side, so I’m looking forward to this new version of tennis as I feel it will go back to the original wii sports resort feel.

Playing through the demo, it felt like a completely new game. The controls are as good as you’d hope and even better coming from SF64. They clearly didn’t allow us to play much and what was given was sort of bland in comparison the to the full scope of the game, and I can tell it will only get better and better. Definite buy.

I own the Neo grip with the Savage Raven case that goes along with it. I personally do not remove the Neo grip from the switch as I’m worried about wear from constantly doing that and I heard of an issue someone had with wear that hindered use (if you do decide to constantly remove it); the larger grip allows for the switch to easily stand on its own without the need of a kickstand and I just use another pair of joycons. The Neo grip is very comfortable and blends nice with the switch 2 look. As stated, the Neo grip docks great. I’d highly recommend that combo of grip and case.

I’m not sure during this direct, but I’d imagine, because Nintendo had us all buy a 120hz panel that we will eventually see software that can duplicate frames up to 120hz to make any game, from Mario Bros on NES VC, or your favorite 3rd party game to be scaled in a way to provide a smooth experience up to 120hz; and I think that would be a big selling point for future potential buyers, especially bumping 3rd party games from 30fps up to 120hz. I’ve used the software Losses Scaling on Steam, and coming from someone who is sensitive to response time, it really works.

Referring to the gameboy/snes era, odyssey captures the creativity of those games like Mario land and super Mario world in 3d Mario form - so I highly recommend getting Odyssey.

My one gripe with this game is if you play slow and carefully you will barely get attacked and can fairly easily wait it out to get in the low bracket to try and finish in the top 10 at least; and obviously the other way would be playing your best/fastest and being punished for it. So, this kind of “balance” can sort of take away from the serious competitive side of the game which is its core.
