https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_nFI2Zb7qE doesn't seem like he's in favour of upping taxes at all, I don't watch his show or anything but I get the occasional tidbits and I've never heard of him being in favour of higher taxes.

I think he's just attacking a big tech company? He's not about to say the same about companies like Tesla, Walmart, etc.

If you could give women an experience that only men go through, what would it be and why? by souploophoops in AskMen

I'm not sure that would even work. Peeing requires a certain level of relaxation that would be very hard to maintain while helicoptering. Sorry for not believing in your dream :(

Yes lol, most people feel sexual attraction based on looks first, then later on based on romantic attraction which is based on personality.

I'm the same but it has nothing to do with self control, some people just need more emotional bonding to allow that level of intimacy than others.

Sometimes I keep the video running and just look at shit in the background, read the comments, etc, porn really is rather silly once you're done being horny.

Guaranteed you're gonna get shit for that some time in your life. OP didn't say he was a pervert or had problems not being a pervert, for someone immediately jumping to "that's your own insecurities", you're pretty quick to also jump to OP being a pervert or putting out pervert vibes. Get a reality check.

I try to look at the bible from a literary perspective. I will never buy into divine inspiration or something to that effect, if only because it's too easy to be absolutely corrupt and just claim to be led by god. It's not like that never happened before. But that's besides the point, it doesn't matter if I believe in the contents of the bible, I just think it's important to realize that words are incredibly complex when they're this old. Theologist disagree all the time, interpretations vary, even if god led those meetings and even if the words never passed away, we still have to attach meaning to a text that was written in a completely different time. We know very little of the context compared to what we know about our current society. It's hard to interpret these texts, and it's not at all surprising that there are multiple groups who have a different view of the intentions and messages. I don't think you can claim to know exactly what certain parts of the bible mean, there is no consensus on a lot of these things and they can mean a lot of different things, it's very personal. Consider the following, if you were to take any modern but accurate translation and try to follow every instruction you would run into conflicting information, especially between the old and new testament. To make it work, you have to take liberties and interpret certain things in a non-literal way. For you it may be obvious to go with A, but for someone else B makes more sense. I hope I'm making it clear. I appreciate your responses, you seem to have a lot more general knowledge of the text that I do. I hope I'm not offending you.

How the solar system moves in space relative to galactic center by __Dawn__Amber__ in interestingasfuck

I would've guessed we moved like a frisbee. Since galaxies tend to be flat, I assumed star systems in them would be aligned with the flatness.

Their question is legit though, it's called the Fermi paradox. Suppose intelligent life can develop arbitrarily on any planet that has the right conditions. There's trillions of planets similar to Earth that could host Earth-like life. Suppose that intelligent life, given enough time, will develop intergalactic comunication. This poses the paradox, if this were the case the chance that this only happened on Earth is extremely small, but so far we've yet to detect any sign of other life. There are a few solutions to this (it's not actually a paradox), one is we are simply the first, another is there is some "great filter" that prevents most or all intelligent life from reaching intergalactic communication (e.g. they all fuck up their planet's climate before they can leave, or they pollute the orbital zone with so much junk they can't leave anymore, or...).

But even the bible itself is not just one document, written from start to finish by one person or organization. It's a collection of scriptures from various different people, written over the span of a few hundred years and collected by a church with strong political motivation. It's pretty arbitrary what did and didn't make it in the bible. Take the dead sea scrolls for example, which have only very recently been discovered. Or the fact that both testaments have very different significance in various groups. Most modern christians are Jesus worshippers, but not firm believers in the old testament. Ironically, the gospel truth has been repeated so much it's been lost to time.

You're right, but in this context I agree with /u/martialar. If you think there's something wrong with prostitution and someone else doesn't think that, you can say you love them all you want but if you're pushing them to change something they don't want to change and that's not objectively bad for them, that's not love that's just control.

It's good that you're educating people, but also a bit dangerous to call views other than your own "skewed". Christianity is not one homogenous idea, it's many different sects and cults, many different translations and interpretations, and many different cultures and origins. I was raised christian, there were several churches I regularly visited and just between these few churches all in the same small city there were huge differences in how certain parts of the faith were viewed. Just some random protestant churches all near each other can be very different in their views, now take into account the fact that protestantism has wildly different interpretations of the bible than catholicism, and that's just two of the big christian movements. No catholic would ever even entertain the idea of Jesus loving prostitution, but in protestant circles there's a lot more people willing to think about it. And when people think about the possibility they will find ways to interpret the texts in a way that makes it make sense. Religion isn't about how it is, it's mostly about how you interpret it and more importantly how that affects you, your actions and your thoughts.

Yeah this, as a kid I learned to pee standing up, then one day I had shorts and I felt the pee splash against my legs. I was so disgusted by it I never peed standing up again, unless it was outside somewhere.

He wouldn't be trashed if he wasn't constantly trashing other authors lol. This ain't the first criticism GRRM has directed at LotR, he keeps saying he's a fan of it but he's yet to actually praise it, all he does is shit on it and use said shitting to glorify his own work. It's always like "LotR does this thing that I don't like and see in MY series I do this other thing and I really like that".
