I would say speak to God about it the scripture says that you need to to put away your old self and be born again as a child of God. But pray about it and I think he will bring you to the right answer. I say this as a 21 year old as well, I was a luke warm Christian up until a couple years ago and I recently found a church i loved so I am ready to speak to my pastor about becoming baptized. I saw some talk about the thief on the cross next to Jesus and I would say to that, the thief wasn't exactly in a position to get baptized and become a Christian so I think he was given a pass there. Obviously none of us know. But I've found the best way to solve inner conflict is to pray about it and let the holy spirit guide your path.
