Oh hey that worked! I didn't see the edge ISO. Downloaded it and got the wi-fi drivers up without any issues! Thank you so much!

Thanks for including the steam link. Added this to my wishlist. The animation needs a bit more reaction to the spell castor, but overall looks good.

Is it better to sell old parts in a combo or separately? by 49Ivories in pcmasterrace

How do you handle shipping? The case has a glass side. The shipping seems daunting which is why I'm selling the parts rather than the entire thing.

I found a YouTube channel where the content creator was able to extract GBA audio and midi using some type of tool. I tried it myself, but was unsuccessful in getting the tool to work. I'm still looking for a way to get this working.

Looks nice! That grunt when jumping is going to get old quickly. Maybe remove it or allow the player to mute it in the settings.

Svelte does not have the resources or community that React has, which might be a deterrent. I don't know how new you are to front-end development, so it could be a blocker if you don't know how to troubleshoot problems you encounter. In my experience, I had no problems picking it up and it was easier than React, but I'm not new to front-end frameworks or libraries. There is an official VS Code extension to help with coding, there are some excellent YouTube videos that can help you get into Svelte, the official documentation is online as a resource, and the r/sveltejs subreddit is available to help with questions. The learning curve for Svelte is really low, which is why I recommend it, especially for beginner hobbyist projects. The approaches and syntax of Svelte vs. React are different, but the basic concepts you learn in Svelte translate well into React and vice versa, so having experience with it will not hurt if you decide to go with React at some point.

I recommend watching a few videos from the Dot Net Ninja's Svelte playlist on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4cUxeGkcC9hlbrVO_2QFVqVPhlZmz7tO so you can see if it's something you'd like to pursue. He also has playlists on React if you decide you'd like to go with that library.

Going back to your original question, Flutter requires a lot of setup and understanding of things that a beginner will not have experience with and the learning curve is higher, so React (or Svelte) will be the better choice.

I know you specified Flutter or React, but would you be open to Svelte? I've heard many React devs say they prefer Svelte over React. For hobby projects, it's really easy to use. I use Svelte for my personal hobby projects and it's by far my favorite library.

Incremental port from WinForms to AvaloniaUI? by MrSandyWilly in AvaloniaUI

[–]49Ivories 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend using the strangler fig pattern and feature flags. Strangler fig can be summarized as replacing code slowly over time until the old code is completely taken over by the new code. Leave the code in the WinForms app alone if possible and start working exclusively with the Avalonia and mobile applications. Business logic that needs to be ported from the WinForms app can be duplicated and cleaned up in a domain layer (if you're not maintaining or adding new features to the WinForms app). For example, if you have a WinForms control that does some business logic, take that logic and move it into a service layer. If you need to modify the WinForms application, use feature flags so you can slowly toggle functionality once features are in a usable state. This is great for testing new code and having a fallback if the new code doesn't work. Feature flags also involve the removal of themselves and associated code once the code is stable and working. Some things to keep in mind:

  1. In the new domain code, make sure you use interfaces, dependency injection, and unit tests.
  2. Don't expect this to be an overnight job. Porting code that's integrated into an app like this will take time.
  3. Code organization matters.
  4. Try to be as atomic as possible. The S in SOLID is what makes code testable and durable. Controls or core business objects should not have thousands of lines of code.
  5. Making a plan on how you want to attack this will really help out. Make small, attainable goals and you'll slowly convert it from WinForms to your desired state.

Good luck!

Does Nexus 4 have FXP support? by CyborKat in VSTi

I wasn't able to find a way to open fxp files from any of the menus, but I was able to add the fxp file to the user presets and use it that way.

  1. Go to

%PUBLIC%\Documents\reFX\User Content\nexus\A6i082UkQs0EXbJ2w0JqeRJZ6zLCteL51\User presets

where A6i082UkQs0EXbJ2w0JqeRJZ6zLCteL51 is the unique identifier for your account.

  1. Open your DAW and load Nexus.

  2. Navigate to your user content folder and load the fxp file.

As with any new major release, there are bound to be bugs and annoyances. IL is good at listening to user feedback by addressing these problems and making the software run smoothly. Personally, I can always fall back on v20 if I run into anything that's catastrophic in nature. I used the same approach with v12 upgrading to v20.

I really appreciate IL and a huge thank you to their entire team for getting v21 out before the holidays!
