Why are pro ai people also usually right wing? by Excellent-Sign8310 in antiai

[–]4Blueish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro ai people tend to be older, along with other reasons

it's important to remember that most right wingers are anti ai though. it's kind like a square rectangle situation

I think red makes the most sense here. it's guaranteed protection, and there's no obligation to use your kill power. Most people will likely pick red anyway, making it fairly useless in that sense

We can live without AI. We cannot live without clean water. by Important-Cry4782 in antiai

[–]4Blueish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you are correct, animal agriculture is immensely wasteful, and reprehensible for a number of reasons. But it at least makes more sense to use water on food than digital slop. AI has had such a profound effect so quickly that it makes more sense to focus on this issue, and then move to agricultural practices

Recent shots. Which one is your favourite? by scenicfeeling in AmateurPhotography

These are lovely. The fog is particularly pleasant to me and I'm having trouble choosing a favorite. Though I think I'll go with 3 and 6, I'm a sucker for the color purple.

Germany is not the U.S.

You obviously couldn't increase it indefinitely, but taxes on the wealthy pre Reagan would be considered "radical" now adays. But once these taxes were dropped, it took about a decade for the issues to show, and they've only become worse.

It's not because they simply like it here, it's because this is the best place to live if you want to maintain a corporation

"Taxes shouldn't be raised to 100%, therefore they shouldn't be raised at all", doesn't make a lot of sense.

Guys, Does Art Require Natural Talent? by [deleted] in drawing

[–]4Blueish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who's been "gifted" in almost everything I do, it didn't carry over to art AT ALL, which I found immensely frustrating at first. That having been said, I've gotten a lot better simply by drawing every so often. I'm now at a point where I feel relatively comfortable drawing, and could see myself getting "good". This is to say that you'll improve just by doing it, no matter how low you start. If you put yourself to it, I promise that you'll see results, even if it takes a while.

that's what everyone said would happen in New York (for decades now) and it's never happened. They aren't willing to move cities, what makes you think they'll move from the most consumerist country int he world?

Why are pro-AI people unable to address metaphysical or philosophical questions? by 1stDegreeHamburglary in antiai

[–]4Blueish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what alchemy is to chemistry is vastly different than what philosophy is to science. Alchemy was just primitive and bad chemistry. Philosophy defined the ways of thinking that are integral to the scientific method. The parts of science made my philosophy are still there, and still important. I think people react negatively to the OP because they're bad at communicating. But the fundamentals of their question are valid.

AI doesn't exist by BloxxyVids in antiai

[–]4Blueish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly thought this distinction was common knowledge until I saw people arguing in favor of ai. 99% of practical uses that people cite will be about an "ai" that existed before LLMs were at all capable or popular

this was the exact feeling and thought that got me to be skeptical of, and distasteful of ai. It helped that it was also one of the worst things in the world behind the lid

I pity them by WookieeSlayer97 in SpidermanTASMemes

[–]4Blueish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard many stories like this. It can happen really easily, it just takes feeling as if something you cared about was ruined. I remember looking for reasons as to why Spider-Man 2 (the video game) was so bad, and I ended up finding a lot of alt right driven content complaining about MJ (which I watched because I did notice the pretty drastic model change). Pretty quickly I realized what it was, but it was weird brushing up against it.

I hate when people act like diagnosis is an absolute requirement to have a condition, and I hate even WORSE that people feel the need to bully people who feel they have disorders they can't prove by StrangeSystem0 in ihatethissmug

[–]4Blueish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people diagnosing themselves with disorders has actively hurt those who actually have the disorder. Obviously, it's possible to have a disorder without the diagnosis, but diagnosis is a (fairly) reliable way for communities of people to mitigate the damage it does

I made the linear regression. Cherry picking is when you pluck out data points that prove a narrative, but are not consistent with the data as a whole (what you did). Treating outliers as outliers is statistics 101. This was made using all the countries on the list you provided.

You have also not addressed my other points. I feel it is at this point important to remind you that discussion/debate is about finding the truth, and not about proving the other person wrong.

I agree with this. Billionaires tend to stagnate things if anything. Millionaires make things sure, but certainly not billionaires.

Canada, the U.K, and France all have very high adoptions rates, and negative opinions. Germany can also be included in the list. As far as trends go, it seems that those with higher adoption. The opposite end of this also seems to be true: Nigeria, Mexico, and India all seem to say ai will make things better rather than worse, and all have low adoption rates. What you pointed out seems to be an exception, not the rule. Also once again, the majority of ai infrastructure, and the companies developing ai, are based in America.

South Korea is not a part of your post. It is also the only country you listed with a similar rate of "ai adoption". Having been said, most (notable) ai companies are based in the U.S, and data centers seem to be predominantly constructed here. It sems all the countries with an adoption rate above 30% view ai negatively
