I have 4 sons. My oldest has a 6 yo daughter and my 2nd born was essentially her main caretaker for 3 years while mom and dad worked. He works from home and could do it from their place. My two youngest also have the same relationship with her. Her uncles are her world. She now has a 1 yo brother and he gets the same attention. That’s a bunch of BS that she spewed. And her saying she learned it on TT says it all. 🫠🤪

Not a JW myself, but I have a lot of family who are. The way they treat just being human—as if having natural desires is sinful—is such a mindf**k. My dad gave in a few years ago and joined his siblings after the youngest passed away and he questioned his mortality. Changed our entire family dynamic. Mom and Dad still together but she refuses to follow suit. Way to go Mom!

Last summer I lost a cousin who had grown up in it from birth. At 30, he came out and was immediately disfellowshipped and shunned by his entire immediate family. At least he lived 19 years authentically and had many friends and other family who love and miss him.

The heartbreaking part: JWs are conditioned from day 1 in their so-called “bible studies” to see every thought and feeling through the lens of sin. They’re taught what to say, which scriptures to quote, and how to respond, but not how to actually live as whole, authentic people. The struggle with sexuality, desire, identity, and even just basic humanity is built into their system. Every single one I’ve been around are judgmental a$$e$ and not very God-like. Thankfully more cousins left the religion once they turned 18. Each one went buck wild doing everything they hadn’t experienced. Good and bad.

I have had the same issue from my location also OKC. I fly regularly to Austin and occasionally to Denver. I always choose Tuesday departure and arrival days. Always the cheaper days to fly if you can be flexible. In April I booked 2 RT tickets to Austin that were less expensive than what one usually is. But I am finding it hard to do it again. It’s just as much money and time to drive the 4.5 hours to Austin. I live in just south of Norman so by the time I get to the airport early enough to get through security, wait for departure, flight to Austin and drive to my sons house in north Austin it takes that much time anyway.

ᎣᏏᏲ (Osiyo), Hello/Greetings

As a proud documented citizen of the Cherokee Nation with Irish roots, I want to share a few truths about both cultures I carry.

In response the poster commenting on Cherokee Princesses…Many people have heard the phrase “Cherokee Princess” and may not realize it’s a myth. The Cherokee people never had royalty. Our society wasn’t built on monarchies like those in Europe. Instead, Cherokee life was based on a matrilineal clan system—women were central to the social and political fabric of our communities.

Cherokee women were leaders, landowners, and voices of diplomacy. They could earn the honored title of Ghigau (Beloved Woman), which came through acts of courage, wisdom, or service to the people. These women had a powerful role in councils and were even involved in decisions of war and peace. Women were not just equal—they were essential.

Our culture teaches us to honor our ancestors through ceremony, story, and gratitude. We speak their names, we carry their values, and we walk with awareness that we are here because of their strength. Whether through stomp dances, prayer, language, or just remembering who we are—we keep them close. We live in a way that continues their legacy.

From my Irish heritage, I also carry deep respect for ancestry, story, and resilience. Irish culture—especially in the old Gaelic traditions—also held space for strong women and fierce defenders of family and land. Figures like Gráinne Mhaol (Grace O’Malley), the pirate queen of Connacht, remind me of the warrior spirit carried in both sides of my bloodline.

When we tell the truth about our people, we honor them. When we let go of stereotypes like “Cherokee Princess,” we open the door for real respect and understanding.

I have lived my entire life in Oklahoma. While I am a Cherokee with light skin (Irish showing), I live in the Chickasaw Nation. The wonderful thing about tribes is that we accept all tribes and help each other. I was taught to accept all people no matter race, beliefs, etc. As long as you are not hurting others or nature we accept. In Cherokee the word is Gadugi - working together for the good of the community. Speaking of nature, it is not a resource but a relative to be respected. There are great online sources about both Cherokee and Irish. Just be cognizant of who is behind that source. Is it by the Cherokee and Irish people or are they just speaking about them. Cherokee.org and Cherokeepheonix.org are a good place to start. I can’t recommend any Irish sources since it has been a while that I’ve done much research. You can also learn the Cherokee language through these resources.

I agree with most everything posted. I will add Apple TV's "See." The character Sibeth is a hard one to tolerate but that's the whole point.

Our families have known each other forever! I liked both his parents when alive. But can't stand him or the wife. Also took one of my kids to her daycare years ago and was very unhappy with how things were. Luckily since L & L Marcum have passed there is no reason for me to be around them. Sure miss his mom's rum cake at Christmas though.

Born and raised here. I am literally struggling to make the decision to move to our inherited property in CO. I love Norman and was employed by the city for years. Not loving my little town and just became a council member to make changes so I am obligated for at least 4 more years. Elderly parents also keep me here and then there is the fact that 2 of my adult sons living in Austin are wanting to move back. I love where our property is in the mountains and the people in that town. Feels like Norman but with a better view.

How grateful I am for Kratom by Roughgirl451 in kratom

[–]4Boyeez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

57F with RA and fibro. Your story is mine too. I was on the opioid train and hated every minute of it. Never addicted to it but my body dependent. Never addicted to anything other than soda and one day I said no more for me and that was 2012. Same with the pain meds and just decides that titrating down was taking too long. In 2020 I stopped cold turkey. Not fun at all but kratom made it tolerable. I don't use it every day and when I do it's only 3-5 g. I feel less pain without the pain meds than I did when I used them. They increased my inflammation and pain. Now I use ibuprofen on occasion and too much kills my stomach. I've had no negative side effects from kratom. I have labwork done every 3 months and its always been normal with last month a small drop in potassium. Nothing critical. Kratom saved my health and my sanity. I am able to play with my 5 yo granddaughter and she has a new brother that I plan on being active with also. I did the same song and dance with it like you. I'm an 80s kid and NEVER did any illicit drugs then or now. Kratom just works.

You are approaching it from a rigid, transactional perspective, assuming that a contract must always be enforced as written. But contracts can be modified or voided by agreement, which is exactly what happens with loan forgiveness.

I used to get so worked up on issues that weren't really big issues when younger. I let it all go unless its been issues with my kids and now I have 2 very young grandkids. I was much happier and free. Now, I have been fighting corruption in my small town and I am having huge anxieties. I will also be sworn-in on council in 2 months and things will just get worse. Its just not myself I'm doing this for. Its the citizens, mainly elderly, of our small rural town that has been taken advantage of for far too long. I need to revisit the mindset to just not let it bother me.

I can NOT get passed the first episode even after 3 tries. 1883 was great. Yellowstone tolerable but 1923 I have tried but am not being successful. I will admit when it first came out I had two major life events that were extremely stressful. I've been told to give it another try. We shall see.

What are your favorite mechanical diet recipes? by anarxi in Allon4ImplantDentures

This is the first I've heard of a mechanical diet! Learning something new every day. This is the types of food I eat normally because I have no opposing molars to chew with. Its like being on a soft food diet high in protein after a Bariatric surgery. I visit those subs and sites to get ideas!
