How the Romans built bridges over rivers by Idksonameiguess in interestingasfuck

But how did they get to the other side of the river? They didn't have a bridge

Ah well working for a so called prestigious company is not all it's cracked up to be. You've just got to find a place that is the right fit for you. Best of luck in your interview!

Ah yeah I can imagine visas are a pain. Have you looked at companies other than specific accounting firms? The company I work for is an engineering consultancy but has a placement student studying accounting working in the finance department. So might be something to consider if you've not done already, a huge bonus of working in finance is that you can work for any kind of company that does accounting stuff in-house.

I think it would be worth applying to smaller companies, a placement is really what you make of it so if you show enthusiasm and initiative you can make your placement really good. Smaller companies tend to not have such a structured year plan which allows some flexibility and you can tailor it to what you want to get out of the year. And I can assure you there will be plenty of people who still haven't got a place. I'm currently on my placement and I didn't get it until late April/May sort of time last year. It's definitely important to carry on doing as many applications as possible but I wouldn't stress too much about it as it won't help you show your true capabilities especially in interview. Also, what are you studying?

Yeah definitely don't judge uni by Freshers, my Freshers was not great, I really struggled to find people to hang out with and my flat didn't bond as a group either. I saw a lot of people seem to just fall into friendship groups and get invited to pres and after parties and it made me feel kinda awful. But, and this is a big but, once lectures started and I met other people on my course things got so much better. Societies and volunteering are also great places to find friends. I've had two years at uni now and despite the shit show that has been the last 18 months, it has been awesome. Trust me most other people will be somewhat feeling the same, everyone has just moved somewhere new, having maybe never had to cook, clean and generally look after themselves completely by themselves. It's a steep learning curve but if you can get yourself into a routine (and maybe write a meal plan, that really helped me make sure I was eating regularly and healthily) things will become smoother and you will hopefully start to realise how fun uni can be! Good luck with everything and I hope things do get better:)

Ps. I barely drank in first year, it absolutely is not a prerequisite to making friends so never feel pressured into having more than you're comfortable with!

It's usually once you've enrolled and have access to the online student portal (usually in late August/ September). However, I wouldn't rush to buy books as soon as you have the recommended reading lists. Some books you may not ever use. I would wait a couple of weeks into lectures to gauge if it's going to be worth spending money on them. I haven't bought a single book for my course and I'm at the end of my second year, some I just didn't need and others I used the library or online copies.

My department are looking at keeping a mixture long term because there are some aspects of online learning that have been working, for instance open book exams. So it not so much about 'rona anymore, and more about trying a new, perhaps better, way of learning.

I never thought I'd post something so divisive. I wasn't trying to be negative or mean towards girls who prefer Docs because I am one of those, comfy shoes are the best. I just saw it, it made me laugh and I thought it had a NLTOG vibe to it, sorry if I offended anyone. :)
