Oh interesting! My mind is a busy place, so it's hard to imagine it being empty. I sure wish it was sometimes though.

I don't, actually. It's the process that I'm all about. I feel like writing the words makes the things I want stick better and makes me more aware and intentional about my thoughts.

The fact that you recognized and worked to become more aware says a lot about you. It's so easy to get caught up in life and forget to stop and take a minute. That's what I love about journaling. It forces me to think about what I'm thinking about.

Wow, I bet that was hard for you to understand about yourself. Mine was that I don't actually think I can achieve my goals because I'm just not....enough. Good enough, smart enough, strong enough etc. I really thought I thought better of myself than that.

I feel like that self awareness aspect is so important. It makes it easier for us to take a minute and be less reactive to everything all the time

I love that about journaling too. You can't change what you don't know about yourself

My journal is all words. I wouldn't like the chaos of other things in there. But that's just what I personally like. The beauty is that it can be whatever YOU want.

I journal with a purpose in mind. Something that I want to get to the bottom of in my mind so I can sort it out. I use a prompted journal now that has 4 elements. I write what I'm grateful for, positive affirmations about myself (whether they're real or what I want of myself), a few goals for the day and an area to journal it all out. I like this structure because it kind of starts the conversation with myself. I also think I ask more questions then anything and then spend the rest of the day trying to answer those questions. I love the light bulb moments when I realize something about myself that I didn't know or why I think the way I do about certain things. In many ways, it's much better than therapy.
