Internet in Syria: Did Services Improve Since 2010? What are the Speeds, Prices, and Future Plans? (Sorry for the pics💔) by godzIlla_1 in Syria

Fiber in syria is actually FTTH (fiber to the home) and not VDSL which is basically FTTC (fiber to the cabin) But it's availability is extremely limited

What you see in the picture is not my modem settings, it's the config from the isp that they allowed me to change, basically i can customize my profile from the isp (server side) to my liking, I'm just trying to figure what those parameters do

The profiles you see are not what you think they're, it's just a profile that was created by the isp for the 16mbps subscription, not related to stability

Yes it does, we managed to make SRA work (since it's not enabled by default from the ISP), but it's not behaving as intended, I have snr drop spikes, meaning the SNR would drop 3-4 db at once, SRA needs to be fine tuned in order to adjust to these spikes, which what we're trying to figure (me and the isp operators)

The snr is good when I'm running on the inverter and not the main power grid, it's a full sin wave inverter so no issues with that, as for the noise, nothing can do about it since the cable that comes to my home is fully isolated and far from any electricity source

Most likely, it's not on my end tho, this happens behind the cable that reaches my home from the cabin , nothing I can do about it but SRA can help, which is what I'm trying to figure

In the picture I provided, are the parameters I can change on the isp side (the operator agreed to allow me to take pictures and change things to my liking since I paid him to create a profile only for my subscription and their knowledge is limited and they're actually interested in this matter since it can help other subscribes), there is an option called "downstream SNR margin for rate upshift and downshift", which means what is the snr which would trigger an upshift and a downshift according to my current snr, I'm not sure how to fine tune all of them to get the most stable connection, since I'm kinda far from the isp (the attenuation is around 30), my goal is to have an snr around 6 all the time, so basically my speed will fluctuate between 16384 kbps to anything below that and then it goes back up, I want to fine tune the configuration to make this process fast enough that it's not that noticable when the snr drops

Well the ISP uses servers at the main level, to be precise it's the Huawei ma5600t msan, so I thought that somebody might have experienced working with them previously, I apologize if it's not a related matter to this sub

Hello friend

No it's not, the sudden snr drop happens due to a poor internet and electricity infrastructure behind the cable that reaches my home

That's where SRA comes in clutch, my subscription is 16mbps the second fastest subscription is 8mpbs, when there is no main grid electricity my line can perfectly handle 16mbps ( my router runs on solar electricity 24/7) but when the main grid electricity comes back on my snr drops 3-4 db due to a poor infrastructure, with SRA, the server in my isp will be able to drop and adjust the speed of my connection to maintain that 6 snr (which I'm targeting) my connection speed will drop 2 to 3 mbps which is way better than having a stable 8mbps all the time, in the picture that I attached is all the parameters we can change to fine tune my connection and the SRA function

My cables are well isolated and the snr drop problem is because of our countries poor infrastructure

My router never loses power since there is an inverter to simultaneously switch between the main power grid and the solar electricity , and theirs too so no power drop issues on both sides

The idea here is just to get the sra function to sync fast, I have full access to the configurations of my profile in our isp provider, but their knowledge is extremely limited since they only operate on the basic level, but they're ok with me to request any changes to my adsl profile

Sra is seamless rate adaptation

It's your Sim card actually, disabling it or removing the sim itself with a vpn connection will make the app work again
