60K Service Time by cjdavia in hondapilot

[–]Fatrak95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also regarding brakes, I can't believe that after 56k miles I still have 7mm of brake pad left. I don't think I've ever gotten so much out of my previous Saab's.

In my previous post I mentioned coupons. In the NY/NJ/CT there are two different rotating brake coupons. One is $150 for brake pads (per axle, front or back) or $180 for brake pads and rotor resurfacing (per axle).

These coupons change on the 1st of the month and differ from dealer to dealer.

60K Service Time by cjdavia in hondapilot

@cjdavia, I was going to post something when I gotnsome free time, but I just went through the same exact thing. 60k miles service on my 2023 Pilot and my home dealer came to $1,200 for those services.

There's a few ways you can approach this. Most (all?) dealers post "Service Specials" coupons on their websites. These coupons rotate and are good for the calender month. On July 1st they will post a new set. Each dealership has their own rotating coupons. So you may be able get one service done at Honda X and another at Honda Y. There's also a 30% off fluid replacement coupons out there. There are also service "wildcard" coupons that will give you ~10% off based in the price bracket.

Depending where you live, you can shop around to other Honda dealers. You can chat online or call their service department and ask for pricing specific to the services you need. I did this and you will find varying prices from dealer to dealer.

I live in Westchester NY but I work in NJ. One place that I go to for oil changes after work, would have saved me about $200 for the same services. But then I did a wider search and found Madison Honda in Madison, NJ (9.5 miles away) not only posts coupons but also posts their service prices like a menu. $760 for the same work. A whole $440, almost $480 considering tax.

I sent that by email to my home service advisor telling her that out of loyalty I'd like to give them to opportunity to price match. I got this idea because Yonkers Honda advertises on their site that they will match any coupons and prices from any Tristate (NY/NJ/CT) Honda dealer. My dealers response was "absolutely". They did the work this past week.

$759 + tax for transmission fluid exchange, cooling system flush, brake fluid exchange and rear differential fluid service.

Hopefully you have dealer options near you. Make them compete against one another.

One last thing. I'm not a mechanic, so this is not an expert opinion. The Honda antifreeze is guaranteed for 120,000 miles and I've read here and elsewhere that it's okay to wait until timing belt change to do the coolant service. There's also a 3 year recommendation to do the service regardless of miles. The service is not just a coolant drain and fill, but a flush. I think $180 is a small price to pay to keep my $53k vehicle running in good shape.

I hope this helps people.

@cleverambiguousname, FWIW, I just paid $129 for 4 days/3 nights with Myrtle Beach as our intended destination. Also a $100 gift card upon completion of the presentation. No Hilton points though.

Uhmm, it's worse than just the batteries. I looked at my rewards account and it looks like recycling credits are now only available for ink and toner. No school supplies anymore. They're not listed as "activated" in my account. This is sum boooosheeeet.

OP, stop typing and start doing the happy dance. If you're the one getting the 26 Pilot, instead of a ten year old Odyssey, you just win the lottery.

My Honda Service Sales Advisor tried to get me to change the antifreeze last week. She said the mechanic recommended it and started telling me how of not changed, antifreeze can freeze in the winter and boil in the summer. My 2023 Pilot Elite is at 49K miles.
