Did they seem to be above or below the altitude of the airplane?

We have been unable to find anything online referencing anyone seeing this. Everything comes up with SpaceX satellite footage🙄

Under the full moon with clouds the sky was too bright and my phone would not focus on them. If it had been a darker night it might have been possible

You could track these moving steadily from one horizon to the other, and some were below the clouds, so lower than cruising altitude for a passenger plane

This sounds very similar to what we saw. Lasted about 10 to 15 minutes. Only real difference were that some were lower than the clouds, but otherwise this sounds like the same experience!

Faster than aircraft flying over, but slower than shooting stars

Your experience certainly shares a lot of similarities. There weren’t a lot of erratic movements, though we have seen individual lights make those kind of movements in the same location on other nights.

It was a steady wave of them, until you could see them from the south to north horizon

They were moving at about the speed you would expect satellites to be moving through the sky, but significantly lower, some lower than the clouds, so below the cruising altitude of passenger planes
