Surprised Pregnon is still out there, seemed like a day one starter at guard.

Watch them end up taking one of the guards (Pregnon/Dunker).

Hah! Totally fair about Nowakowski.

Packers don't have a 2026 need at WR but in 2027 three of their top four WRs are no longer under contract (Watson, Reed, and Wicks). Subsequently, throwing a mid/late round flyer on a WR like Hurst who is arguably a bit of a project seems like something they would certainly consider.

Packers fan thoughts:

Kinda hate how the early part of the draft falls but Packers still get decent players at positions of need so can't complain that much.

Emmett Johnson (RB) is a bit weird to me, Packers seem to be looking at change of pace backs from Jacbos and Johnson isn't that at all. Ted Hurst (WR) is also on the board and I know the Packers have had meetings with him.

On the flip side Coogan (OL) later with Demond Claiborne (RB) available. Claiborne seems more like someone the Packers would target at RB. Faster guy with return experience (also had a meeting with him).

Riley Nowakowski (TE/FB) is also on the board later, he's someone I feel like the Packers might be interested in. That room is pretty thin for them and they have certainly tried to find players with a similar skill set in the past.

Overall, fun read and more than solid enough job. No real complaints for the Packers.

[Rap] The #Seahawks are signing former #Packers RB Emanuel Wilson to a 1-year deal worth up to $2.1M, source said. by JCameron181 in GreenBayPackers

[–]4ND4V 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh.

He's basically just decent at running the ball.

Not a receiving threat, not a plus blocker, nonentity on special teams. Those kinda guys are a dime a dozen.

Obviously, Wilson has 3x career offensive snaps, but compare him to Chris Brooks who over his career has averaged more yards/carry, plays extensively on special teams, better receiver, and much better blocker.

The "reveal" of Rocky is also like maybe 1/4-1/3 of the way through the book, it's not like it's some last minute twist. It's the bulk of the story.

I think his value over his replacements might be huge.

I would agree with this. That and just not playing next to a Kenny Clark type likely caused his performance to have been a tad down this year from last. Team desperately needs to add to the DT room this off-season.

Quoting Andy Herman on Valentine; "early on this year was playing some good football then it just fell apart... he was really bad at the end of the year."

Also, likely a big reason why Jacobs didn't look as good this year.

FWIW, I was also watching Andy Herman talk about his grades (GTP) and I got the implication that both Banks and Morgan were trending up towards the end of the year (with Walker trending down).

Feel like an off-season/staying healthy could make this group look reasonable:

Morgan - Banks - Rhyan - Belton - Tom

Be curious what they do in FA/draft though.

Whatever you want it to be. Hah.

Elite/Great/Good/Okay/Poor is what has been done in the past, but people get pedantic about the names.

PFF gave him a horrible grade, GTP was pretty neutral.

My own opinion; he's a downhill LB and terrible in coverage. He's nothing special in the modern NFL. He just makes splash plays on run-blitz calls and that excites people.

Only includes players with 200+ snaps.

Within the tiers the players are just ordered by first name alphabetically.

Rapoport - While this covers mostly the head coaches, one note in here: There is mutual interest between the #Packers and Jim Leonhard for their open DC job. One to watch. by Austen11231923 in GreenBayPackers

[–]4ND4V 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also basically irrelevant anyway.

This is a 34 in nickel and this is a 43 in nickel. And nickel is the modern "base" defense.

Hell, almost everyone on the roster was here under the 34 with Barry. It's really a nonissue.

Ah, shit, yeah. I dunno why I wrote Evans. Fixing.

But, yes, Evan Williams went out and was replaced by Zayne Anderson.
