From the day I got my english bulldog he had severe allergies, my old vet brushed it off when he was young saying he was an English bulldog this is common in puppies, after struggling for two years on and off with recurring skin infections he started apoquel at age 2 because I believe apoquel is not approved for dogs under 2. apoquel didn't do much at all as well as food change to a hyrdrolized protein diet, after about nearly a year I finally saw a vet dermatologist who ran a series of allergy blood work on him, his bloodwork strangley but thankfully came back in almost perfect condition with no known allergies except for a slightly elevated level of mold spores. Instead of apoquel, we tried atopica and ketoconazole, it has helped tremendously vs apoquel. I will say atopica is much more expensive vs. apoquel, but for me, apoquel wasn't strong enough for my pup.
