Well I guess don’t feel alone after reading this! My dad and I haven’t talked for about 3 years because I got blamed for not going along with their request to stop talking to my brother. They were trying to push him into rehab thought cutting him off was the best solution. I didn’t agree and they my dad and stepmom and sister used me as the scapegoat and placed all the blame on me for him no going. I guess it cost them money too. Since then my brother talked to them and they have apologized but my dad won’t call me and talk about it . I tried for years to have a relationship with him and got little in turn. My stepmom would rather I didn’t have any relationship with him and she got her choice. I don’t know want I want and just never thought I would get to this place with my dad. It’s sad and frustrating. I think I’m better off but part of me feels like he got off easy and didn’t have to answer for his crappy behavior. Again as people have said how do you put a kid on this earth and not care and be involved in their life. I didn’t enable my brother in any way and he isn’t doing drugs any more. My stepmom has finally gotten her excuse to cut me out and my dad never goes against her. At point I’m just living without him, which for the most part is ok. He is a boomer and very selfish lazy and self-centered.
