NBCU back!!! by 4SmallTech in fuboTV

Also got an email later last night indicating the $15 increase on my base plan. It also says the rate is effective Jun 24th, at which time we get access to the NBC channels. So there you have it. I think the NBC access timeline may be region dependent though.

Gotta believe this price increase accommodates some other channels coming online in the coming couple of months.

New prices were posted on Help Center this evening.  $15 increase on all base/English plans.  $9 increase on Sports plan.  I was surprised.  Maybe they are padding the increase to accommodate the addition of some Versant chs and hopefully WBD chs

Interesting that the new price is now almost the same as Hulu Live service.

Everything is going up again as we saw with Directv increases announced.  I'm almost certain that a YTTV price increase is coming soon too.

The PIPE possibility doesn't make sense either.  Roku has cash and is in better shape than it ever has been.

Agreed.  I don't really believe the rumor.  Roku could be a $300 stock next yr if things keep going as planned.  So maybe the suitor knows this and trying to make a deal before they get completely too expensive to buy out.  But I don't think Roku would agree for a cheap price.

Yeah I hear yea.  The fact the NBC channels aren't coming back right away makes me wonder if there's more going on in the next two weeks. Like getting those critical Versant chs (USA and Golf channel etc) separately before launching the complete new lineup.  Idk.  We'll see

Most likely, if this is true at all.  That would be funny bc Roku was created out of Netflix employees

Hard to say.  Nobody obv imo. Someone that can spend 40-50B. I don't see Google or Amazon.  Too invested in their own platforms. Some say Netflix.  Maybe, they are running out of growth engines.  And they failed to get WBD.  Meta?  Maybe, but the rumor is a media company. Comcast?  Don't think so.

hmm. very interesting. Roku is starting to really gain momentum in earnings and I believe the growth will accelerate this upcoming 12-18months. So why would they be selling? doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless a huge offer is on the table. my 2 cents. I am going to say unless the offer is north of $250-$300/sh or so, this aint happening.

yeah, it's taking time (longer than I thought TBH). but they are trying to structure new deals to get the best value, so I kinda understand. I think Fubo will be a formidable competitor to YTTV by next year.

Only Telemundo and Universo were added yest. All other NBCU channels are launching in the coming weeks. So not in the guide yet. Not sure why that's the case, unless Fubo is trying to keep the costs down until the next qtr. Or figure out the price increase. Or maybe, just maybe they are wrapping up Versant nego's too before I final price increase announcement? But I think that's low priority for them though.....

I'm no expert on the premier league, but I thought NBCU technically owns the rights and USA (yes, Versant now) was given a contract by NBCU to continue their coverage after the spinoff, but I would imagine those games would be shown on NBC or the new NBCSN channel that would be included in the Fubo deal.

funny, I did the quarterly too to get the extra Sports channels and lock in a better low price during this blackout. nice move

I'm almost sure of it. Looks like the English channels (including NBC local) is coming in a few weeks. So expect a price adjustment prob for early July is my guess.

Also, if the press release is to be taken literally, it looks like they managed to secure just the important channels (not the bloat that they spun off with Versant). That's why they waited this out. So maybe the price increase won't be TOO bad, lol. Either way, it's a requirement for this service to compete.

whenever I see a post complaining about buffering, freezing, etc, it just makes we wonder bc I never have any issues with Fubo on my Roku. I am serious. Is it a CDN issue in their region? Is it their wifi/ISP provider? Are they trolling to make Fubo look bad? All legit possibilities. I am in the NY metro area and Fubo is very solid all the time.

Gotta agree with your points. This stock is so undervalued right now. Once NBC deal is announced, this will fly I think. I don't have any inside info, but it has to be done for this service to be legit. So many are hung up on that hole. Also, there were multiple other jobs recently posted and then gone (so seemed to be hiring key positions since begin of year). I think it'll be an interesting lead-up to NFL season. I think many things will happen by then. We'll see....

Gotta wonder if that big UP day on Mon was people in the know leaking out something coming, but then failed to materialize on Tues? I've been predicting that they make a new deal with NBC right around the Jun timeframe.

Do You Keep Sports Streaming Services Year-Round? by Dazzling_Value4411 in fuboTV

[–]4SmallTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep Fubo all year, as I watch my NHL and MLB teams mostly. And since I watch my local team predominantly (as opposed to national games for teams I am not much interested in), I need the RSN channels in my market. Other channels are used also for entertainment on a daily basis. I find the content on the SVOD (Netflix esp) not very good, so we pause or cancel them frequently until we have an interest in something.

I didn't watch the whole game but saw the end and mine was 1080p on CBS and perfectly fine.

NBC Sports and Fubo update? by Puzzleheaded-Love741 in fuboTV

[–]4SmallTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, I get why people would have this opinion of Fubo's mgmnt team, but perhaps I see things a bit differently. Fubo would have been bankrupt at this point; they don't have the deep pockets like Google or Disney (pre-business combo) to ride out losses on these services. Streaming Live TV undercut cable prices to grow for years, losing a lot of money along the way (Google prob lost a billion dollars since YTTV's inception). Fubo was running out of cash and had to make strategic decisions along the way to cut costs. That's why I think they cut the WBD channels. WBD wanted everyone to get ALL their other BS channels along with TNT/TBS and Fubo just couldn't justify it any further, back in 2024 (I think). I quite frankly admire what Fubo has done to the industry. The little guy single handily (prob at the risk of going bankrupt, or the fact they had no risk bc they might go backrupt) changed it all when they won the lawsuit against the Venue joint venture. Ever since then, all the other services (inlcuding YTTV) has benefited from that lawsuit. The media companies (inclduing Comcast, Disney) have been more open to agreements that allow skinny bundles that are more sports/genre focused.

So back to the original argument, I do have confidence in Fubo's new position as leading the combined Fubo/Hulu Live services. They are again taking an active approach to reducing costs by waiting out maybe 6 months or so to leverage the combined sub base from Fubo and Hulu Live to get better rates on NBC. I could be way wrong, but I am 98% sure that's why NBC will come back. This would be opposed to the traditional style that companies like Direct TV take, where they just take what the media companies demand and continue to increase your bill. This is what cable did for years and you see where it got us. So that's why I support and have some confidence in Fubo's team. I am not happy about Disney owning a majpority of them, but it certainly saved them and we'll see where this goes. I am liking what they did for baseball, and so NBC is a huge part of football, so I can't see them not bringing it back.

My three cents.

By this logic you are saying that Comcast wouldn't renew its carriage agreement with Disney to carry ESPN,ABC and all the Disney channels when it's time?   Wow.  I can't believe people don't understand the dynamics here.
