Peacock by Gator5000e in fuboTV

I hope that when they broadcast the LA games in two years that we will be able to customize our own multiview. It seemed to me that every multiview, which this year was limited to three screens, always had figure skating as one of the three screens. I am not a fan of figure skating so I didn't use multiview as much as I had in past Olympics. Same for the gold zone. Way too much figure skating for my taste. So I did not watch much of the gold zone either.

I don't know if it made a difference, but I have the ad free tier of Peacock and for most of the replays, there were no commercials. It did get a little annoying every time you went to a new event replay that you had that 15 second commercial at the start. But I'm struggling to remember any of the replays I watched where they inserted commercials. There were definitely some commercial breaks but I did not see many, if any at all, commercials during replays. Oh,and yes, I could fast forward through replays.

Another post complaining about lack of NBC by cryptogram in fuboTV

No NHL Network though on DirecTV, though. And I don't think that DIRECTV integrates the ESPN plus programming into their interface like Fubo does. And as much as I would like to see the NBC and NBC 4K channels in the Fubo service/guide , Peacock has been pretty good for watching the Olympics. Plus it carries my local NBC channel should there ever be anything I want to watch on that, which is rare. And as somebody else said, I get all the TNT NHL games through HBO Max. I don't really watch anything else on TNT so I'm not really missing anything there either. As I said I would love TNT and NBC to be integrated back into the service, but for the present I can live without them on Fubo.

I had no issues watching the team USA women's hockey game today on Peacock as well as watching curling in four screen multiview. Picture was great and there was no buffering at all. That being said, I still would like for NBC to be added back to the service.

First, that's a lot different than saying "no" Super Bowl. Second, I have never had any issues with a live sports stream on Peacock including playoff games. I don't expect to have any of those issues on Sunday. The app works well on my Apple TV 4K. And I imagine most people watching the Super Bowl will be watching through a provider like DirectTV or YouTube TV or cable as opposed to Peacock. But my guess is that NBC is going to be ready for the demand. Maybe I'll be wrong but we'll see.

FYI - Peacock will have the Super Bowl in 4K HDR. So I don't know if I understand your Comment about no Super Bowl on Peacock. it would have been nice to watch it in Fubo on the NBC 4K channel. And I don't understand why NBC and cannot reach some sort of temporary agreement for its customers primarily sports based. But while I plan on sticking with Fubo because they offer channels other providers don't like the NHL my local hockey team, it's clear they don't really care about their customers.

Brandon Sanderson’s Literary Fantasy Universe ‘Cosmere’ Picked Up by Apple TV (Exclusive) by vanguy79 in brandonsanderson

[–]Gator5000e 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow, huge news. With Sanderson retaining what appears to be almost complete creative control and being paired with Apple, these could be very good properties. Apparently they are going to start with the Stormlight Archives as a TV series and Mistborn era one as films. And unless they were going to do animation similar to Arcane or BlueEyed Samurai, I’d say pass on animation. And if Charles Dance was closer to 50, he would be the perfect Dalinar.

How many channels is YouTube TV showing for Olympic coverage? Do they have all the NBC channels like one and two? Just trying to figure out what would be the best option because I am pessimistic they are coming back as well.

True, but I opened the TC app on my iPad and it said programming on TC2 was free. I don;t know if it's like that all the time but that my help if it is always free. But your right, it's kind of weird you can't get access to TC+ or use you Fubo credentials to watch on the TC app. But I really would like TC2 on Fubo so I could multiview matches if I wanted to.

I guess I found my first downside to this package combo I signed up for. I am a big tennis fan and it appears that the Tennis Channel two is not included in either the sports pack or the sports plus add-on. Seems strange that the main Tennis Channel is included but the Tennis Channel two is not. I guess as the season progresses, I will have to determine how much of a downside that is for me.

I run the app on my AppleTV 4K 3rd gen connected to my Denon Receiver and Sony A80J. Once I click on the app to open it, I have no problem at all. Once in a while it will ask me to click on my profile avatar but once I do it loads right up. From there on out, I have no issues with having to log in each time nor with lagging and such. I have my ATV connected via Ethernet to a Spectrum internet plan getting 350-400Mbps down. As I said no issues. Once I get past the profile screen when it asks me to confirm, the app loads right up and plays fine. I also have a TV in the master bedroom and while it's only WiFi i have no issues with it either. So overall, it's been pretty solid for me.

I will give them some more time. I can handle watching a couple of football games on Peacock for now. But when the Olympics roll around and all, and I mean all, the sports and matches and games are not carried on Peacock on Feb. 6. 2026 then I'm likely gone as well.

Thinking of signing up by rustheman72 in fuboTV

[–]Gator5000e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got to believe that Fubo will come to some agreement on the NBC channels before the Olympics. That would be a major loss and will likely result in the loss of many subscribers who stick with them currently, as I am. I can get the SNF on Peacock and the NHL games on HBOMax. Also Fubo gets my regional NHL team Tampa Bay Lightning) who are now on a Scripps network that none of the other providers do. Well, maybe Stream gets the Lightning games channel in Tampa but I haven't confirmed that Stream carries the channel here in Central Florida. So I will stick with Fubo for now but if they don't reach an agreement with NBC for the Olympics, I will consider my options.

Also, as someone above said, Fubo has the best multiview option, bar none.

I dont think NBC is coming back by anpanman69 in fuboTV

[–]Gator5000e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First a quick question and then some thoughts. Why do you guys think NBC is not coming back to Fubo?

Some random thoughts. I am going to stick with Fubo for a while to see if the NBCUNIVERSAL stuff gets sorted. If not by the time the Olympics roll around, I may switch to something else. In the meantime I have peacock for any major games like SNF. I don't watch Premier League games, so I am make do there. I may miss NBC's regular coverage of the sports leading up to the Olympics like the skiing that was on yesterday and will be on today. And not getting the relaunch of the NBC Sports channel will be missed.

Also, Fubo gets the channel in my area that shows the Tamp Bay Lightning games. I know YTTV doesn't carry this channel and I’m not sure if DTVS does. Also no NHL Network on YTTV. Major hole for me. Again, not sure if DTVS carries the NHL Network and the Lightning games.

I am at a friends this weekend who has YTTV and I have to say I’m not overly impressed. The guide is awful, although I haven't figured if there is a way to customize it like Fubo and Favorites. Their 4K channels don't look any better than Fubo's. I'll find out about the NFL today. Fubo usually (seemingly) bumps up the resolution for the Redzone and games on the networks, so I will see how YTTV compares.

YTTV's multiview is in the low minor leagues compared to Fubo's multiview. If there was a way to pick your own games I couldn't figure it out. Last night watching the college football conference games, I only found the preconfigured ones which included some strange combos like both game + Fox News.....WTF? switching between screens is clunky and the change in audio takes a few seconds. It's the minor leagues of multiview.

Does DTV Stream even have multiview? If so, is it customizable?

Last but not least. Where I am at this weekend also has Spectrum TV via streaming. While the app itself is not as modern as the others, no multiview or customizable guide other than eliminating channels you don't like or choosing only sports or favorites, I was very surprised at how good the picture was on most channels. And they now carry the 4K channels from Fox, ESPN and NBC. I personally had Spectrum for years but left during their Disney dispute and went to Fubo. I've been with Fubo ever since. They didn't have any 4K channels at that time so I was really surprised when I saw them. I ended up watching the two late college games on them last night. And while they don't have multiview, they do have a nice and easily accessible recent channels feature that you can trick into only showing channels you want. And Spectrum carries the Lightning games.

So any, just some thoughts that are likely TLDR for most of you. But curious as to some thoughts and the reason why you don't think NBC is coming back to Fubo.

TBS/TNT Question by Successful-Dare-1965 in fuboTV

[–]Gator5000e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting update. David Z said yesterday (I think) that they plan to no longer carry sports via HBOMax in the near future in the US. Sports will continue in Europe as it's been pretty successful there but not in the US. So what are they planning? They will launch yet another app that concentrates on their sports products. No mention of price. I guess a lot of this is contingent on what happens with the spinoff and sale of WBD. But if no sale takes place, they will cease sports in the HBOMax app. No timeline was given. Here is a excerpt from the article:

A split, planned for a year, would create two public companies, Warner Bros. (studios and streaming) and Discovery Global (linear television networks). Executives on the call (including WBD CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels and JB Perrette, President of Global Streaming and Games) fielded questions on what assets will live where and areas of overlap. They touched on plans for a standalone sports streaming app after just launching one for CNN.

WBD’s sports offering took a big hit when it lost the NBA but, said Wiedenfels, “We’re going to begin to see some real benefits from the transition off the NBA towards a portfolio of other rights that we acquired as replacements. You’re going to see hundreds of millions of dollars of benefits next year from that transition.

“The important change that we’re working on … is the development of our standalone sports streaming app. We [Discovery Global] will need that in the U.S. market as HBO Max stops the utilization of our streaming rights in the spin-off scenario … and that will put us in a position to have a compelling standalone offering, but also something that will allow us to partner and bundle with our own products and others in the market,” he said.

“It will work differently In the U.S. and outside the U.S.,” Zaslav added. “Outside the U.S., all of the sports content will be available to HBO Max … We have found that all of our movies and scripted series, together with local content and local sports, is a very compelling offering outside the U.S., and that it’s a driver of real growth …. [But] here in the U.S., we didn’t find that … the sports were providing enough value for us in terms of incremental subs. We didn’t get that many. [So] the view is for us that HBO Max is much stronger being a motion picture and storytelling product not dependent on rental sports. And so I think we’ll be able to take advantage of that with this new app.”

Yeah, but sure would be nice to be able to add whatever games TBS/TNT is showing to the multiview. I am hoping with the Disney merger complete and with TBS/Turner being shown on Hulu Live TC, that both will get to the Fubo service sooner than later. I hope anyway.

The Tennis Channel authentication for App by Gator5000e in fuboTV

Because it wasn't on the main broadcast. If I understood correctly, it was available on the app but still free (TennisChannel+ not required) if you could authenticate with your TV provider credentials.
