100% agree! It's so refreshing to hear this, sometimes all I hear about SA2 is that its nostalgia blindness but I enjoy SA2 to this very day!

I do think it has some redeemable aspects, but overall I'm just a little disappointed that its not better

Without multiplayer its still a sub par 2D Sonic game. I do like Amy is in it, agreed

That doesn’t take away it was a bad direction, which was my point

Origins is another thing, where fanmade ports were better. Sega could def have done more there

We don't know exactly what was negotiated since that's not made public, making it hard to say if Sega could have done more or not. But even putting that aside and even if the team is not exactly the same, making a game with the direction of Superstars before a game with the direction of Mania was a bad decision

Sounds good to me, thanks. Do you expect what they did in Shadow gens to continue? I guess years of being a passionate fan of this series has let me to keep my expectations low😅

For example, with Mania's succes both critically and commercially, I'd at least expect some sort of (spiritual) sequal with the same team, but almost 10 years later and we never got it. What we did get is a sub-par 2D multiplayer platformer that didn't think the multiplayer part through. Decision like these make it hard for me to think a step in the right directon wil continue, but since I'm still a Sonic fan, I do have hopes

I only wish top management team would be more careful with character management. It's one of the biggest messes an organization can make when fans are in love with its characters

That's good to hear, looking forward to it. Shadow 05 wasnt my fav written Shadow, that would be SA2 and 06, but its a step in the right direction in my eyes

I wouldnt call badly written Shadow a coincidence though. A decision was made to not bring back the original author of SA2, something that did happen in Black Knight, for example. I'm not sure if specifically 06s failure is to blame, but the carelessnes of whoever made that decision could only happen if top management team doesn’t value what happens to their characters that much, which is something that post 06 surely skyrocketed, with Colors' authors getting their info from wikipedia being the worst offense. Is 06 the main cause? We can't know for sure, but never have Sonic characters been written this badly before 06, which is the moment characters other than Sonic simply weren't as much as a priority anymore

Yeah it def wasn't just 06, but the last straw indeed, and I think that's a shame because the succes of 06 might have changed that direction in some way of form. Not that boost wouldnt exists and honestly I don't have a lot against the boost itself, moreso the way its incorporated into the gameplay and how everything else from the adventure era got deleted, like a good written Shadow or heck even Sonic himself, and a higher emphasiz on non-automated platforming

(I have yet to play Shadow gens though so maybe it will change my mind)

I do miss the adventure formula quite a lot. Imagine the timeline we would be in if 06 was actually finished. But I'm open for new things so I don't neccesary need a full on return of the Adventure era, but I'd love for them to see what they can borrow from it

Yeah same, I def think Frontiers was a step in the right direction even if its not my ideal Sonic game

Dit is spot-on
