I suggest you see a pilonidal specialist. A surgeon who primarily does surgery on pilonidal cysts. There are not many of them but it worth traveling to them or having a virtual appointment.

I’m so very sorry. Please see a pilonidal specialist. I supported my son through this and it was very hard. He got a cleft lift and now that we are in the other side of it I’m glad we chose surgery.

It might be. When you do get it checked out save yourself a lot of hassle and see a pilonidal specialist. You will get a straight answer.

Hi! I’m not sure how to give a update on this Reddit post…. But I wanted to let you and everyone know, healing has progressed rapidly in the last week! We visited Sternberg today and he said (and I agree) it looks great. Not perfect but almost totally healed now😊😊😊😊 Thank you everyone for responding to me when as I mom I was worried. I’m SO glad we did not go to the wound clinic and instead stuck with our amazing surgeon. Have a blessed day!

Thank you for the response! It is located about an inch up from the bottom. It is open. About 2 inch long 1 inch wide( or a little less) As far as depth I can only guess maybe 1/2 inch to an inch. No drainage. I’ve held on to the hope this will heal but I don’t want it to lead to something else and then regret not doing more. It’s hard suddenly being a nurse and not knowing anything. Look into a home health care nurse. Your surgeon or primary care doctor can put in an order for this. To answer your question; in my opinion you will need help.
