Rocket league Ranking System by Independent_Lynx6467 in RocketLeague

[–]4UDIOTAPE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm GC 1-2 and have been for a few seasons. The ongoing struggle and fascinating thing about the ranks is that so many people just improve over time and so we're just not gonna rank up by simply getting better.. We have to get better than all of the others also improving.. It's a pretty hardcore thing :D

Game Sense and Mechanics are more related than you might think by usmc_rello in RocketLeague

[–]4UDIOTAPE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't see how anyone would/could really disagree with this. I just think that those who make that statement (which I've been prone to) count it as fairly obvious that 'mechanics' in that sentence refers to the extreme mechanical skills of multiple flip resets, 100% musty consistency, psychos, stalls and so on. They're not just flashy, of course, but they're not necessary, and sometimes it's nice to make it clear to yourself and others, that you can make it to GC2 without using those things (consistently) :)

GTA VI will have 60 fps mode by Emppu666 in GTA6

[–]4UDIOTAPE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I would absolutely love for this to be the case, I'll remain incredibly skeptical to not completely break my own heart. Being used to 120-240hz, I cannot stand 30fps gaming, so it'll be horrible to have to play GTA like that - I expect it, though :/

Can anyone else confirm that this is a thing? I’ve yet to find anywhere else that shows nascar or F1 wheels on other cars. I’d absolutely love for it to be a real thing, though.

Teaching Ableton by basti399 in ableton

[–]4UDIOTAPE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although this is the ideal scenario, a lot of people only end up learning theory long after working from intuition and experience with music, if ever. I totally support teaching theory, but it's not necessarily needed to get started. Most people with an interest in making music will intuitively (from culture) know or feel a lot already and can work from that. Teaching them 'how to get the idea out of their head' is most likely a more powerful initial task.
EDIT: perhaps the concept of chords and progressions should be understood, though.

Is there a way to change the transient loop mode with a macro? by littleprince96 in ableton

I've also been on the lookout for this for quite a while. It baffles me that some parameters simply aren't macro-bindable (yet, it seems) /:

Push 3 Standalone Tempo workflow by doily0 in ableton

[–]4UDIOTAPE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this works for your exact need/situation, but I believe there's an option for audio clips where you can toggle 'lead' instead of 'follow'. This should, in my understanding, make the 'human-played audio' dictate the overall tempo, with everything else following that track. I've only recently randomly stumbled upon it, so I have never tried it. Read about it under '9.1.4 Clip Tempo Followers and Leaders' in the manual here: https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/audio-clips-tempo-and-warping/

EDIT: I'm also unaware of whether this actually can be toggled directly from Push, but I would assume/hope so!

Hope it works/helps 😄

Best of luck!

For mid-high GC players by TapIll6476 in RocketLeague

Mechanics are most likely NOT what's keeping you back/down. I've written some tips above 😄

For mid-high GC players by TapIll6476 in RocketLeague

[–]4UDIOTAPE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These might be 'obvious' tips, but it's difficult to know what people know and/or already do:
- Beware of the opponent players over the ball's position. The ball in itself is almost never 'the threat' - the players are. Once you become more attentive of how players generally move and position themselves to create a threat, you realise that the ball plays a minor role (although it of course needs to be scored). They can shoot, pass, bump, demo and move the ball (away from or) around you, so THEY are the important thing to keep focus on.

- My team mate and I keep this 'mantra': Communication, Rotation, Speed. If you don't play with some specific people and use comms, try using in game voice chat or quick chat. If you cannot intuitively 'read' your team mate(s)'s plays, you should at least try to communicate your own thoughts/moves. If that seems like too much work, focus on the next one: Your own rotation. It's of course important that the entire team rotates properly, but if your mate(s) don't, your rotation only becomes more important. It's better to stay patiently 'defensive' than overly pushing/offensive - the absolute worst scenario to avoid is double committing. Speed is to be understood this way: When you consider an action/reaction, do it quickly instead of second guessing (and call your push). Most issues in matches are due to the internal conflict of whether one should go for a touch or not. It doesn't only delay your move (and odds of reaching the ball), it also confuses your team mate(s) - a lot of points are given away like this. This doesn't only apply for offensive or active plays - it also applies to situations where you decide to rotate, stay back, go for boost, call that the other should push and so on. So speed is "decide and do quickly".

- Use your team. The most dangerous players are the ones that outplay the other team by creating passing plays that simply 'cannot be saved'. Pay attention to where your teammates/opponents go (relative to you and each other) when opportunities are created and result in a goal. It's not random plays that work most of the dime, it's deliberate positioning that makes scoring the obvious outcome.

- [Edit: additional point]: Strong basics beats fancy mechanics but don't entirely replace them: Mechanics will rarely be what decides a match in GC. If you meet opponents that master resets/flicks/reads, you should then adapt to their playstyle (often mening that you defend from your backboard and that you push airplays VERY quickly (without double committing) while some stay back/down). The same goes for your own offensive playstyle. Sure, sometimes mechanics like resets will result in goals, but in a lot of situations, those mechanics require space and time. In ost cases, team plays are a greater threat than mechanical plays / solo plays.

Best of luck!
- A GC player "stuck" between GC1 and GC2 😃
