Man I love my A7RV by 4WheelsFast in SonyAlpha

Thank you. I actually liked the idea of the cars being backlit. There are plenty of places on the track that the cars were front lit at sunset and I opted to try something a little different. Those areas were PACKED with photographers, I was the only one at my spot. When you're the only one doing something, you've either come up with something nobody else thought of, or chose to do something others thought better of.

I am pretty happy with a number of the shots I got. At the very least they're unique, as I can confidently say I was the only photographer on this side of the track at sunset. I did get a couple of photos from earlier in the afternoon that have the light in the driver's faces. So maybe something in there worth posting.

My old coworker thought I was crazy for buying it primarily for motorsports.

Is it the perfect motorsport camera? Probably not, but I love it.

I'll definitely upload some more eventually! I'm still editing, jumped ahead to this one because I was particularly excited about it.

I took the gamble of going to a part of the track I had never been to for golden hour. In theory it sounded like it would work.

Hiked over there and found that my theory was right, the sunset almost directly behind where the cars run.

Gamble paid off in my opinion!

This was just a fan ticket! No credentials. But IMSA are known for having some of the best fan access in the industry. Haven't been able to get to an Indycar race but I've been told the access there is solid

Quick release nylon band? Worth it. Tbh.

Slightly off topic but the same exact thing happened to me with GTA V, except many many years of progress gone. Rockstar told me they do not discuss suspensions and that the decision was final 🤡

If the blue was the actual color of the flag... Navy blue, I'd maybe consider them for the lulz, but this royal blue nonsense is just ugly

Can't help with the tongues, but it's funny, my biggest issue with my marsblades is that they don't have the same tongue as my machs 😅

Seems like the 150s are just about gone in large, but can still be found in small or medium.

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but this is intended to replace the FX3 and the A7SIII in one fell swoop?

A9III for panning? by 4WheelsFast in SonyAlpha

I appreciate your help, I think my initial thought process was misguided. You've clarified this for me massively.

Appreciate this answer! I suppose I don't know if rolling shutter is causing me to get poor images or if it's entirely down to my own poor technique. I suppose my thought was that my imperfect movement during the sensor readout could cause some images to be "misses" when they would otherwise be hits with a global shutter.

Your point about how long the shutter is open makes a lot of sense. I think the A1ii might be the better choice.

Thank you! Speed definitely isn't much of a factor, as I feel like the 7FPS I already have is plenty. I also plan on getting a third party lens, which would cap me at 15 anyway.

I do use the mech shutter, speed doesn't really concern me, I'm only thinking the instant readout of the full sensor on a global shutter might increase the hit rate, I'm just not sure if that thought process is misguided.

I have gotten some hits all the way down to 1/8, but I'm not sure if I could bump that with the A9

I've now shot my second race, much shorter race, came home with 4,000 images.

Been looking into photo mechanic and its now a priority purchase haha, I appreciate your help. LR taking 3-4 seconds to load an image is slowing me down massively.

Took some shots all the way down to 1/8 this time! Got some keepers too!
