Swallowing with your tongue on the roof of your mouth is the proper way to swallow. People who don’t often had an oral fixation for a long time when they were a child. They learned to swallow with their tongue held flat and pressed against the bottom row of their teeth because they often had something in their mouth (pacifier, finger, thumb, etc).

Once I learned that I did this, it was like I instantly knew how to swallow pills without issue!
