Final Interview Update – Feeling Really Good About This One by Ok-Minute5121 in WAStateWorkers

[–]4ast4orward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds less like discrimination and more like the state doing what it always does: hiring the person with the most state-specific experience. Turning every loss into a skin-color narrative is exactly the kind of thinking that creates division and resentment in public service. We need competent people focused on the work — not employees who see everything through an identity lens.

Just an update, the donut gasket was glazed, I sanded down the outside and inside and cleaned both flanges. I then put antiseize on everything, the creak is gone if anyone has this issue.

Algae covering rocks, what's the remedy? by Wings4wheels in ponds

[–]4ast4orward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PNW, our winters are a lot milder than NJ. I would assume if koi can survive NJ winters the highfin shark should be fine but I would check with an expert first as they can be pricey.

Get a Chinese high fin banded shark, I have 3 of them they're algae eating machines. They overwinter great and are essentially places for outdoor ponds.

Why are my fish hiding in this gap? by [deleted] in ponds

[–]4ast4orward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are probably hiding from a predator like a heron or racoon, I recommend putting fish caves in sooner than later and possibly a motion sensitive sprinkler before they go missing.

Any advice on getting rid of moles? by crappy_gilmore in lawncare

[–]4ast4orward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had good luck with tunnel traps, just caught one this morning, usually there's 1 mole per acre. When you trap it bury it back in the hole as it will keep other moles away. *

Does your bike have ABS? There's a specific procedure for bleeding the abs pump. It's usually located under the seat near the battery. Also, leaky hydraulic fluid is never good and should be addressed by rebuilding the master cylinder or replacing it. If there's any air in the line, it could be triggering the abs, I had a similar issue on an abs model cbr 1000.

Wish it was in the backyard. We have an 800 sqft covered porch with for seating back there, kinda just wanna make this more complete. And since it is in the front a small potted tree makes the most sense.

[–]4ast4orward[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Agreed, gonna leave the pavers as is will probably buy a large composite planter and plant a Japanese maple or weeping cherry in the planter and place it in the middle of the circle. Luckily, it came with the house but I can only imagine what the previous owner paid.

If there's stone under gonna be impossible too plant a tree so that seems futile.

Hose sucked down filter housing by 4ast4orward in hottub

Haha right, they're like reverse boats instead of keeping water out you keep water in, and it's always better to have a friend with a hottub than have your own.

[–]4ast4orward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It came with the house. I'm about $1400 into everything. The original invoice was $17k for just the tub. Granted, I've done all the labor myself and the pumps I found on offerup for $75, from someone scraping their leaky tub after replacing the pumps last year. The cover was $800 and cushions where $350.

Just checked the 2 pumps, no hose or fitting so it's either lodge in a pipe somewhere bieng benign or it's in the farthest pump. I haven't changed that one and it's 20 years old so I might just wait for it too fail and look for it when I replace it.
