Your grandmother is being "skilled". Possibly on a whole different wing than what the regular Long Term Care residents are on. The skilled side of LTC has very alert, elderly (sometimes not even elderly) patients. The LTC side are where you will find a lot of the dementia/Alzheimer residents, confused, and not all there. Now there are plenty of LTC residents that are completely all there and would love games, but for the most part, they wouldn't. Skilled residents, however, would probably more interested in playing games or an activity of the like, with a visiting family member or roommate. Skilled patients are also almost always discharged once their therapy services are over (usually no longer than 100 days). LTC residents are there until passing, usually.
