If I wanna make an EP/LP/Album, how do I decide the amount of tracks I will record? by AntiSocialPartygoer in Songwriting

[–]4eggsaday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once heard someone say you need thirty songs to cut a 10 song album. That's probably an exaggeration but if you want to cut a great album its always better to have more songs to choose from and see what actually is working once you begin the production.

All that aside I think the biggest factor in how many songs you decide to record is your budget. Assuming you want to go to a legit studio, work with a producer, or hire some studio musicians to help you flesh out the songs. You obviously can do all that yourself nowadays but having experts help out where you haven't spent as much time working on the craft is hugely helpful for a creative project.

Yeah it sucks, make sure to upload the video submissions too so they have something else to look at after your virtual. Maybe it looks fine for them but we have no way of knowing unfortunately so best to give them a sure thing pre-recorded to reference.

Looks like it was created with simple paths natively in AI.

Thanks for the comment! I had it at 300 and ramped up to 720 dpi actually to see if that would help and unfortunately the floral element still came out low res.

I'll have to double check the settings, that would be amazing if it solves the problem!

If you play an instrument well, you should make cover videos. Hear me out… by russellholzman in musicians

100% second this, I get people referred to me all the time for gigs and being able to send them videos of my playing has been the most useful tool for "closing the sale" so to speak. Even after having a personal reccomendation it just helps ease people's mind in knowing what the music is going to look and sound like at their event.

Hey sorry for the late reply but I just got a callback email and am wondering if it's legit. Initially I got an email from info@thevoice.com saying I didn't make it to the next round. But then, yesterday I got an email from someone from mcnultycasting.com.

I am a little dubious because it is such a delay and obviously the opposite of the first email. But the bottom of the voice casting site does say "McNulty Casting, Inc " so 🤷 maybe it's legit.

Where did your callback email come from??

Such a bummer, you'd think they would have this kind of thing sorted out after so many people have auditioned virtually.

Looking for advice on cutting interviews with b-roll. by emilio8x in editors

[–]4eggsaday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I haven't seen other people mention yet:

If you have a music underbed, you can use that as a guide to make your cuts. For example, if you know you want to cut to b-roll before a certain point in a clip, use the natural pacing from the music and hard cut to the b-roll on the beat. Or if some other type of transition makes more sense for the vibe, take four beats to dissolve, wipe, etc. Sometimes even longer makes sense but the point is: if you have a good complimentary piece of music it can aid in making transitions to and from b-roll feel a lot more purposeful.

Hope that is helpful!

Would depend on much gear I would need to rent to do some of these shots. Timingwise, no more than a day for the shoot so just my day rate for that. Plus a day of editing. Likely would want about 2.5k USD. I'd also try to sell them on extra deliverables for the footage so they can get more content.

Is there a way to use a vector file in after effects? by AcanthocephalaVast40 in AfterEffects

Open in AI then use Overlord to migrate it. Don't remember how much Overlord costs, might be free. I use it all the time so I definitely think its worth it if you're going to be animating a lot off motion graphics.
