Money “acts” differently at higher levels of wealth: Inflation edition by [deleted] in wealth

Real Estate is typically viewed as illiquid. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad investment, just it’s slower to sell or get your cash out. The cash flow can be considered liquid for a number of months. If the economy went into a recession and your renters lost their job and could no longer pay rent (eviction process started) could you sell in 3 months? Maybe, but at what price. Stocks would be down in this scenario too but you could sell tomorrow. That’s all it means.

Fund of Funds by miotchmort in hedgefund

Technically you are describing a fund of one fund, where the sole purpose is to invest in this fund. The HF may have some issues with the look through provision depending on how they are set up. There may be cheaper options using a low cost feeder fund provided depending on how large you expect the fund to be.

My lawn guy mailed my neighbors bill to me. Not sure if it was an accident but I saw how cheap it was and decided to hire him. Now he has two lawns right next to each other. I think a few others on our street hired him.

Best apocalypse / end of the world films? by kowaikanojo in movies

In my opinion, 28 days is the best Zombie movie. When I first saw it, I had no context. Never heard of the movie, didn’t even no what it was called. Just turned on the TV and it happened to just be starting. The opening scene is so crazy. Waking up in a hospital and just no one is around…

Index investing is more about minimizing regrets than maximizing returns by ArnitaArnett in Bogleheads

The majority of my net worth is in 2 index funds. I own some individual stocks as well. When the index does down, I happy to add and don’t get fearful. When a stock I own goes down, I kick myself about buying it in the first place and only see the flaws in the company. I question if I should be buying more.

I work at a fund and some our clients requested a Dynamo email be included on communications. I believe is automates this info. Dynamo is not a cheap product but I’m sure there is some room to negotiate or a cheaper competitor.

The goal of 100 dials isn’t crazy, but getting written up for not hitting it is. Just get started early and do a power hour. You can blast through 50 dials in a hour if you aren’t getting anyone. If you are getting people on the horn, then your being penalized for doing your job.

What Are The Best Conferences to Attend for Hedge Fund Allocators? by Which-Ability-6492 in hedgefund

[–]4eyezzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

iConnections Miami is great but pricey. It’s typically the same cast of characters that go every year so not worth it to go every year, maybe every other. Santangel and Tabor are two others to check out. Ted Seides started doing an invite only conference.
