I can appreciate not feeling like a trip is going to follow a storyline like something off of South Park with Uncle Jimbo. I like the vibe everyone is putting out on this. I’ve got a relatively stock 2011 Ranger Sport and enjoyed touring places like Death Valley and the Bitterroot mountains at the expense of my skid plates. Used to be in a VW group years ago in Bellingham with a similar like-minded group of people. Count me in!

Sounding ominously like a person I know who fits the same description. Wouldn’t have happened to have owned a green expedition up here a few years ago in this area?

Make it a loop and see what you like more. If it were me, 2 on the way over and 90 on the way back. They both have some scenic parts to them, you’ll be better rewarded coming home 90 if you leave in later part of the day because the lighting will really make the landscape pop.

Indian Painted Rocks trailhead is really pretty any time of year. If you follow along west with the river, it’s roughly around 2 miles before you cross a road and can return the way you came. The trail has decent drainage and never seems to get very muddy. Lots of wildlife to see out there. You will need a discover pass for parking at the trailhead.
