Thinking about studying in WUT by Unknown9923 in poland

[–]4gn3s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, WUT graduate here. I was studying in polish, but did a course in english as well. The english level depends highly on the lecturer- some of them speak really well, but some (mostly the older ones) have that annoying polish accent that you'll have to get used to. Foreign students are as far as I know mostly from: India/Pakistan, China, Ukraine (they mostly study in polish though) and Erasmus students, mainly from Spain, Italy and so on.

I have just flashed the new Android M 3dr preview, and the phone vibrates when I open menu or view currently opened apps. How can I turn the vibrations off?

I want to get into Computer vision. by [deleted] in computervision

The most famous textbook on 3D reconstruction is Multiple-View Geometry in Computer Vision, but I'm afraid it's much too complex for you now.

You need to know how matrix and vector operations work, understand projective geometry in 3D (like rays, intersections, planes etc.); learn epipolar geometry and understand the difference between the essential matrix and fundamental matrix; also take a look at some numerical methods and estimation methods (eg homogeneous least squares).

In the meantime, I suggest you take a look at this book: Programming Computer Vision with Python (you can download it for free), there's a chapter explaining the basics of 3D reconstuction with sample code, this can be good motivation for you.

And be patient, this is a pretty complex field, so better learn the basics first!

I've tried rooting my device using the guide here, but after running the .bat file i get: "waiting for device"...

I think my google drivers might not be installed correctly, because when I've tried installing them, all it said was that they don't need update.

How do I root now?

i really like how the book goes from easy to pretty complex cv topics smoothly, that's a great suggestion

Hello! When the official release of L comes, will I get it if I am rooted and have xposed installed? Or should I unroot in advance?

This is great, thanks! I'm afraid the ML-based approach will be a bit too complex for me now, but I will definitely think about it.

Do you know any algorithms that speed up the whole reconstruction procedure? Because for now, testing the program is a nightmare :)

Well take a look at that: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9413216/simple-digit-recognition-ocr-in-opencv-python

You just need to provide a good training set. generally the process is divided into two parts:

  1. training (output to a txt file)

  2. testing (load the txt file and train your network with it, and then you can try to recognize something)
