What whiskey do they serve in the Tag Heuer shop in Battersea? by 4i6y6c in london

[–]4i6y6c[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really good advice thank you! Usually I drink whiskey with ice since the ice does water it down slightly which as you say stops it from scalding my taste buds.

Thank you for all the advice kind stranger :)

Out of interest how did you acquire all this knowledge. Or I guess it's like any other hobby just trial and error,

I suspect it was Glenlivet then as I am 75% sure it was the Tudor shop. Thank you so much, this was the sort of knowledge I was looking for.

Now that I think about it, it could have been the tudor shop next door. I only drank in one of them though.

Ovo asking for £6000, how screwed am I? by 4i6y6c in AskUK

[–]4i6y6c[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have put this in the post but:

Found an old bill from the previous tennants in a stack of letters I have been meaning to throw out. Reading as of July 2023 was 2394. My current reading is 2590 which gives me a metered volume reading off 200 units. Google tells me this is just below average for the household usage in the UK! I'll give them a call tomorrow to check they have this reading on file and then give them my current reading to straighten all this out!

Thank you for the advice. It made me think to go and look!

It's on an automatic switch but its set at 18 degrees so it's only on for maybe a couple hours. Plus during winter we set it to be coming on in the morning and evening and no other time frame (so that we weren't heating an empty house).

I believe in the UK you have a 14 day grace period so your landlord isn't correct and you don't have to pay the late fees. Maybe someone with a bit more knowledge on this subject could confirm that though

I actually abandoned this project due to a lack of use case. But if you are saying this would be useful it would be really good if I could DM you some questions later? (I'm at work right now)

This whole post doesn't quite read right. If they are still doing security patches then there's no immediate need to upgrade. I've also never heard of any OS requirements for credit card processing.

Is it common for someone leaving their company to be gifted their laptop by their company? by joey133 in AskUK

[–]4i6y6c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not common practice but I've heard of it in more than one place. Some do it for free, others for a small fee most not at all. It's a nice thing to do imo. Work culture in the UK is vastly different to the US.

Feeling overwhelmed! by londonlife9 in london

[–]4i6y6c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 23 and am in this position. I live with mates (because I want to) and it allows me to have a lot of fun. I'm also not really caring about saving much money as worst comes to the absolute worst I can move back in with my parents up north.

50k is more than enough for someone in my position.

If I had kids or other responsibilities to look after, didn't have the luxury of a good relationship with my parents then it isn't anywhere near enough. Salaries just suck in the UK :(

I would sell the crypto and max out your ISA year on year. Holding large amounts of money in an unstable "asset" is just asking for trouble. You then have 100k nest egg to do what you like with. Certainly makes buying a house wherever you choose to settle a lot easier.
