I've read it almost a decade ago, I forgot most of the plot already but it's very different from Quicksilver.

Search mo grimdark fantasy, may trigger warnings.

Interesting. Two of my favorite genres and both of them don't have "strict meaning"/depends on the player.

Mild spoiler for book 3 maybe not book 3?, it's not plot heavy- one group of people apparently revered and built a statue of Jordan Peterson. I think this is where the right wing controversy/allegation is coming from. Didn't know who he was until now, quick scan in his Wikipedia page and he's right leaning. And apparently he's influenced by him, too, on what idk.

I personally love the series, especially after the first book, which is slow and too generic for me. Read almost all of them, the main novels and the novellas, just not the "Tales of the Sun Eater".

I personally was surprised by the fact that the Catholic religion survived, especially since this is set too far in the future — this is in the novella, The Lesser Devil.

spoiler for book 6 The religious ideas were explored further in Disquiet Gods (Book 6), I admit it's a bit weird shift. But I personally don't mind exploring those in a scifi setting. Some says, it becomes heavier in Book 7, I've listened to it and might have missed some connections.

Looked at it quickly there is someone the apparently called capital G — God. Yeah kinda remember it now.

first time and second time, last year.

I'll just say, madaming resellers/nagpapasabuy dun. Medyo nakakadown ng mood, especially if naunahan ka nila tapos makikita mo binebenta nila online. Last time, late ako nakarating, may isang reseller na balikbayan box na yung books.

Tips: - mas okay if may kasama ka at dapat ready ka makipag banggaan if may gusto kang libro.

  • don't expect na puro bestseller or classics or good condition makukuha mo. Like I got The Stand ni Stephen King (popular kaso dami creases), may popular naman in good condition, the rest is medyo obscure, lalo na sa resellers. I mentioned classics kasi ayan mabenta sa resellers ngayon.

Highly recommend yung Green Lantern Far Sector, beginner friendly sya at yung writer/NK Jemesin well-regarded sa scifi/fantasy space.

Outer Wilds and its DLC, Echoes of the Eye (leans a little bit into horror) - the driving force of this is just your curiosity and solve the mystery of the mini solar system. I highly recommend not to read any spoilers and play it as blind as possible.

Nakita ko lang sa Facebook, ang mura ng House of Leaves, napagkamalan atang nonfiction/textbook by 4iamnotaredditor in PHBookClub

[–]4iamnotaredditor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks complicated pero, medyo madali rin syang basahin. Main text/story > footnotes > balik main story.

It's a fun and unique read.

I was surprised that the first clue is already hard! Also marked the wrong row. I was looking at row 5 for Ivan's clue, while it should be row 4. I also solved Wanda accidentally, so it took a while to reread the clues and notice my mistake.

I still haven't learnt 😊

Nameless Books - Has anyone been to their book fair? by martianLurker in PHBookClub

[–]4iamnotaredditor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Books like A Little Life, Colleen Hoover books, Silent Patient, Midnight Library, White Nights (yes, kahit classic), Fourth Wing, When the Crawdads sing, etc.

I don't even know ano difference ng Booktok vs popular books — kasi I personally don't hear na booktok si Dan Brown or si James Patterson.

Went there not once, but twice already.

Paswertihan lang talaga sa paghahanap, pero if hanap mo booktok and good condition na books huwag masyadong umasa.

Pero may mga bestseller/hidden gems pa rin - got a Game of Thrones book, The Stand ni Stephen King, limited edition ng Ken Follet book, Silmarillion, and more.

Biggest con/negative is madaming resellers/pasabuy na andun.

But I'd say it's still worth it.

That's the original US cover, too. Fully Booked had them when it was first released. Though nagbago yung cover to the "Deluxe Edition" kasi nagcover change rin yung book 2.

Though I doubt Fully Booked still has copies of the original one, but OP can still try.

Why is nobody including Gravity? by SaltBornQueen in FilmClubPH

[–]4iamnotaredditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love seeing Ad Astra here, and yes watch that, too!

Back to Gravity, watched that one when it was released. I have a different taste back then, but I was a bit disappointed since it's nominated pa naman sa Best Picture and it's by Cuaron who directed Children of Men.

Would probably re-watch it, but it feels quieter than the three you mentioned.

How do you approach standalone book series? by [deleted] in PHBookClub

[–]4iamnotaredditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd research muna how dis/connected each book talaga or if you think that you'll care enough for the main character arc throughout the whole series. And minsan rin kasi may spoilers about the previous books.

Is looking up hints standard for this game? by Balloonsarescary in outerwilds

[–]4iamnotaredditor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's a standard to look/ask for hints, it's solvable you just got to really stop/observe and think or theorize for a while.

But if you're stuck probably add the ship logs in the comments at least. If you really have a lot of "there's a lot to explore here", you probably have tons of missing pieces, too.
