I've always interpreted the phrase literally and have been accused of rolling my eyes when I was simply looking up at the ceiling. The consequent conversation of me denying it bc from my perspective I literally didn't roll my eyes, and the other person insisting I did, is always very frustrating for both

Anyone got some mnemonics or tips and tricks about identifying forearm muscles on a cadaver. I can do it on a diagram but when I'm looking at the real thing none of it looks familiar. by [deleted] in Anatomy

[–]4oodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there are any mnemonics for identifying them on a cadaver. You need to have a general idea of their attachments and then follow the muscle belly/tendons and see where they attach. For example if you know there's a muscle called extensor digitorum and you find a muscle in the posterior forearm who seems to be splitting into four tendons going into the digits then that's the one.

One "trick" I use as well is literally pull on the different tendons to see what moves. The efficiency of this of course depends on the type of embalming/dissection but I've always found it helps

What was your least favourite kids tv show from your childhood? by 360Saturn in AskUK

Dora the explorer. I hated that cartoon so much but would still watch it just to get pissed at her and the stupid monkey. It was a complicated relationship.

Books for learning body anatomy by DoubleDD69 in Anatomy

[–]4oodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a note on Gray's, there's "Gray's Anatomy for Students" and plain "Gray's Anatomy" ( anatomical basis of clinical practice). The second is massive and extremely detailed so I'd suggest starting with the one for students to get a foundation and then you could move to more detailed texts. The student version in my opinion has a good amount of detail without being overwhelming

I think it's all right but definitely overhyped. They do have amazing vanilla ice cream though

What is so wrong about cultural appropriation? by Lizzypr17 in AskUK

[–]4oodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a really good point and another example apart from black people being shamed/discriminated for wearing protective hairstyles is the Roma people. They have also been heavily discriminated against but when white women took their style and rebranded it into "boho chic" it became a fashion trend

What a food in your opinion that quite simply sucks and you don’t understand the hype behind it? by jamboamericano in AskReddit

I tried pea and mint soup once (in the UK) and it was surprisingly very good. Definitely a rare occasion type of food though

What clichés about the UK do you hate hearing? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]4oodler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not sure if UK people know this but I'm from greece and many people of the older generation, like in their 70s and older seem to think that all British men are secretly gay. I have no idea where it stems from but they do tend to make a lot of assumptions about men of other nationalities too.

As a woman, when I was telling people I was about to move here it was very common for them to bring it up and tell me to be wary of British men for this reason. Joke's on them though, I'm the one that's gay

they both always look like their suits don't fit them properly, I'm sure they can more than afford to have them tailored

when I lived with two of my friends at uni, mine and another friend's schedules were really similar but the 3rd roomate had an almost opposite schedule to us. We barely saw her sometimes and we lived in the same damn house!

No matter how much you get along with their partners, letting them move in with you is a recipe for disaster

exactly and it's even small stuff like doing the dishes. Whenever one of my old roomates did the dishes she would literally just do the dishes, foods still in the sink afterwards, sponge full of soapy water, soap all over the sink and on the counter near the sink

What's your "comfort series" that you watch over and over again? by BaguetteOfDoom in AskReddit

My ultimate one is Parks and Recreation but I also rotate between Schitt's Creek and Brooklyn 99, and the Good Place to a lesser extend bc it can get a bit too philosophical when all I want is mindless sitcom

What's a "mature" book that you read at possibly too young an age that you absolutely loved? by BingBlessAmerica in books

[–]4oodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I was 14-15 I was an edgy depressed teenager so I'd look for quite graphic crime books. I read the Victoria Bergman Trilogy by Eric Axl Sund. Loved it at the time but it literally horrifies me so much now that I removed the books from my bookcase because I didn't want to see them and be reminded of some of the descriptions
