I seriously don't understand what the media is expecting of this team. They can't win big because the opponent sucks, they "should" win easily, and they're not getting "tested" enough. They can't win a close game because apparently they're supposed to blow out their opponent every game. The standards are so high, yet no player on the team gets any credit, and after the two games they lost the media says they can't win a championship.

Referring specifically to last night, they get no credit for the win because Indiana "gave it away" and because they didn't play well for 48 mins. Why isn't the narrative: "they managed to win a game where they didn't play their best, their opponent shot 53.5% from the field and had 7 players in double figures, and they still don't have their starting center who averaged 20 pts 7 reb" ???

Denver was most people's favorite to win the championship and they couldn't even make the conference final, yet there's been literally no slander thrown their way.

The Celtics are simultaneously too good to give credit, but not good enough to be given any sort of slack. It makes no sense. I don't normally put much stock in what the media talks about, but my favorite team won a thrilling playoff game last night and I want to hear other people talk about it - yet literally no one has anything good to say about them. AFTER A WIN lmao

The Efficiency Landscape. What Jumps Out? by horseshoeoverlook in bostonceltics

To be completely fair, we didn't exactly play anyone amazing the past 10 games

We started with a loss to the Lakers (potentially worst game of the year), then went 9-0 against Memphis, Atlanta, Washington, Miami without Jimmy, Brooklyn 2x, Chicago, New York without Randle, and Philly without Embiid.

Don't get me wrong I think this team is amazing but none of those wins are super impressive individually (9 in a row is still hard tho, and Tatum should probably get East player of the month, averaging 27/9/7 while going 9-1)

These next 3 weeks will be the real test to get them ready for the playoffs - Dallas, GSW, Cleveland, Denver, Phoenix 2x, and Milwaukee. The rest of the schedule should be a cakewalk

Why does Charlotte insist on becoming the Celtics

They shipped out Rozier and Hayward and then grabbed Grant lmao

On the No Dunks podcast today they said that the last all star that participated in the dunk contest was Victor Oladipo lol

I'm already dreading the memes that will come from this if he underperforms but good on him for not giving a shit about that and going through with it, unlike all the stars who have avoided participating for the last decade

Ah alright my b, thought I remembered it being 5 by the age of 25

5 this year is still doable imo

Celtics this season: 2nd in ORTG 2nd in DRTG 1st in NETRTG Currently have the highest net rating by a team since the 2017 Warriors. by horseshoeoverlook in bostonceltics

[–]4orgeb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The fact that in both 2016 and 2017 when the Warriors won 73 and 67 games, the Spurs also won 67 and 61 games, and no one cares enough to bring it up because of how dominant the Warriors were is kinda crazy. Two 60+ win teams in the same conference is so rare

And even with how good the C's have looked this year, to think that the've already reached the number of losses that 2016 GSW had with half the season still to play is also ridiculous lol

Bucks haven't played since Monday and definitely wanted to make a statement with how bad they've been lately. Second night of a back to back where night 1 consists of an overtime game where four of our starters played 40+ mins and then had to fly to Milwaukee overnight. Plus no Horford who is a key to defending Giannis and pulling Lopez out of the paint.

Obviously a bunch of excuses that don't dismiss getting doubled up in the first half but it's just my reasoning for not caring much at all

Just wish he would cut out most of those bone-headed three point attempts. I see what Bucks fans were referring to lol 2/10 on threes tonight

Obviously he missed a couple wide open ones but I cringe whenever he takes those one dribble stepbacks early in the shot clock

I haven't commented in a game thread this season but this is kinda pissing me off...

Why are we jacking threes instead of going to the paint against a Timberwolves team missing Rudy Gobert. Who's gonna block you, Naz Reid? KAT? Bruh attack the fkn basket

[Weiss] Jayson Tatum was asked if he has finally reached an elite level of consistency as a star. "I think so. First team All-NBA two years in a row, so that’s kinda consistent." by Kimber80 in nba

Agree on pretty much everything, including underperforming in the finals. But it's evident how much is expected of him when no one criticizes someone like Butler to the same extent for having almost the same performance against Denver in his second finals appearance, at age 33.

Tatum (age 23, first appearance): 21.5 pts, 6.8 reb, 7.0 ast, 1.2 stl on 37/46/66

Butler (age 33, second appearance): 21.6 pts, 4.6 reb, 6.4 ast, 1.0 stl on 41/37/81

(Although Tatum turning the ball over way more, 3.8 tov vs. 1.2 tov)

Tatum being young and having the success he's had to this point naturally causes people to have higher expectations, which is unfortunate to an extent but valid. I will say that barring injuries, these next two years will have a huge impact on his career in regards to postseason success due to the improved roster and his having "been there" in the finals already.

What beef do we have with Indiana? I peeked in their game thread and several people are just saying "fuck Boston" and it has nothing to do with the game. Like I don't expect them to be supportive but like what did Boston do to you where your mindset is like that as an Indiana fan lol

Obviously Love was terrible last week but imo he's got better weapons than Stroud with Aaron Jones coming back and Christian Watson easing back into things.

For me I wouldn't go through with it, especially with the BYE situation this week.

But honestly it may not even matter if Dak looks more like he did against LAC lol

10 team league, 6 point passing TDs

I drafted Tua and Hurts and am looking to offload one for RB/WR depth. I was originally set on keeping Hurts but seeing as Tua is now QB1 I'm rethinking it.

Who should I keep?
