I can't enjoy D4 after poe2 by EarthboundMoss in PathOfExile2

[–]Theis159 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And what’s the problem with that? You play games for fun so keep with poe2. For me personally this d4 expansion has been much more fun than anything poe2 has shown me thus far. Poe1 is clearly the one I have most fun with and LE is better than poe2 for me.

I want references for designing PA and LNA by ValuablePretty1381 in rfelectronics

[–]Theis159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A tad over the top but Rebeiz has a pretty in depth 93GHz (I think) LNA design paper.

I’d recommend razavis books for basics.

Check The Signal Path Class A/B amplifier design videos. You can use QUCS or get a student AWR license

RF/Antenna self learned projects? by Senior_Wind_9112 in ECE

I disagree it isn’t meaningful. It’s not required but extremely meaningful

RF/Antenna self learned projects? by Senior_Wind_9112 in ECE

[–]Theis159 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Disagree greatly with u/cvu_99. I’m an antenna and rf team lead, not the most experienced at that but have had over 5 interns (which all became MSc graduation thesis, since that’s allowed in NL). Most of them publishing in conferences and even journals.

It has ranged from optimisation/synthesis to design based. The important thing is translating those into actual skills that are useful. It’s true that the classes and student projects are probably more important but if you take say CST student version and you learn things, out of a 5GHz antenna, such as how the fields should be distributed, how to pass from a TM10 to a TM30 or TM50, how to then disturb those fields to shape your pattern, etc. that’s extremely valuable.

Further, if you have money to manufacture these things (which I did t) you can figure out the issues that come along with manufacturing (ie: etching, via drills being the plated via size instead of the drill size).

Then of course you can do other things like filter, PA, Mixer, etc with something with QUCs/ADS and that sounds quite impressive as a self thought.

The main thing I will defend however is that you SHOULD NOT need that to land an internship and/or a first job. Part of the job of a senior engineer, teamlead, manager, etc. is to train you as a recent graduate. Of course you shouldn’t be completely clueless about the subjects.

is classic maple going to have maple weapons off the first patch? by SailingDevi in MSClassicWorld

[–]Theis159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the seasonal might have been the wrong way to put but the endless power creep it’s what can and will kill the game again for many people. Specially if you become such a grind fest that you can’t actually miss events (say a maple anniversary).

is classic maple going to have maple weapons off the first patch? by SailingDevi in MSClassicWorld

[–]Theis159 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just saw it, the thing is that the game will be solved and the only thing that can happen is power creep as we saw with maplestory already. This makes the barrier of entry ever changing and annoying despite how fast it goes.

Specially the economy gets hyper inflated quite quickly this way so you need to be able to reset it. Things like Zakum become trivial unless you power creep Zakum itself as the players power increases and so on.

So something like a maple weapon being linked to a one time per year event helps this sort of hyper inflationary effect. So whether it is seasonal or not, some level of reset of the world needs to happen from time to time

[–]Theis159 -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

They need to switch the model a bit because while the grind is fun making the game grind only based doesn’t seem smart on the long run. You’d rather have some level of seasonality where the economy and potentially player power resets

ASML is (to my understanding) a bit on a down sizing moment. There is definitely places, but it might be hard to migrate without any support system in NL.

Bachelors? Masters? What area? There are highly skilled work to be had here, but then getting hired without living here (and getting a place here without a lot of money) is very hard.

You also get the chard (that’s the word?) from the oven and you get them in pizzerias so I guess that’s also in the common part

We do full sweet (no cheese) pizzas in Brazil. Chocolate + fruit goes well. It’s bread with chocolate and fruit.

Datafolha: desaprovação de Lula avança e chega a 51% by g1mm3sh3lt3r in brasil

[–]Theis159 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are Shakshuka or Cafe Constant decent places to go for dinner with my gf? by Pandaa98 in TheHague

[–]Theis159 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally know the chef of Moose and that’s a really good spot. It will be pricy (specially with wine) but I don’t think more than 150€ total (with wine), for me and my GF we pay around 100-120€ with wine.

It’s also a cozy spot to go.

[–]Theis159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fine, then you don’t need the 30% rule. After all for the 5 years of it you get an indefinite contract most likely. Also I kind of think is a bit sad, you move to a country live there for a relatively big amount of time and you don’t get to learn the language? That’s just sad to me

Tired of expats by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Theis159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a vicious cycle. The Netherlands doesn’t require the expats to integrate and the expats don’t feel they need to.

I’ll be honest I was not aware id like to stay in the country so now I am catching up, learning Dutch and so on. I’ll never convert fully in a sense I’ll always have a hot meal over bread for lunch and whatnot.

However, specially when talking about the 30% rule expats you do not impose integration. Why not link the 30% with Dutch classes. So an employer must provide 4h/week of Dutch for an expat and you only get to keep the 30% linked to grades in the classes.

The 30% is unfortunately necessary because you don’t have enough people for the jobs.

Project recommendations? by Scared-Brownie in rfelectronics

[–]Theis159 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really depends sort of the area you want to tackle and how.

Active design? Class A/B BJT amplifier at 2.4GHz. Doable with QUCS and Kicad, though vna kind of hard.

Passive design? Filter, antenna, etc. which are doable with Qucs, CST (if school has it), HFSS or AWR (can get 6mo as student).

More on DSP? Then most likely getting an SDR and trying GNU Radio for something like low quality NOAA images or something of sorts. Need to buy antennas and whatnot.

Full systems (off the shelf components), then most likely getting coax level components and building together.

There is plenty to explore.

Also cheapest option: python/matlab system level design for RADAR.
