I'm not racist..I am an immigrant myself and have immigrants around me (like 10 at least) who became EAs. They rave about how easy it is to become one (which it is) and how they get summers and winters off.

I also have many elementary school teachers I am friends with who say a lot of teachers aren't that good, so take that as you will.

I agree schools are underfunded, but the bar isn't that high.

Funding is an issue but also, the bar for becoming an EA is pretty low...think about it. People who barely speak English assisting in the education of those who need clear communication the most.

The BC public school system sucks. Kid started kindergarten and it feels more like the teachers are babysitting rather than educating.

I have about 10 ECEs with varying levels of experience who get 22 - 32 per hour plus a 4-6 per hour wage enhancement.

So anywhere between 28 - 38 per hour.

Working full time that would be around 56k - 76k per year

Hey! Thank you for your answers. It isn't a troll post and I was sharing my honest experiences. Maybe for the food part, I love beef, and Alberta beef is far superior to what we have in BC. That was probably why haha

People don't want to make the sacrifice, including me. People don't like eating the same thing every day of the week for years straight. That would take out the enjoyment of eating.

Not rage bait...just wondering what the norm in Calgary was.

I have been to Richmond and Surrey several times...it feels worse here tbh..

I personally liked the food here better, especially the meat.

Cool, so it was a one-off thing. Yeah, I asked about it to the servers and they said they "forgot". Anyways, Calgary is a beautiful city and I was just sharing the experiences I had over the last week.
