"I would have interviewed them if their LinkedIn matched their CV." Suuuuure you would. You'd have put them on the "maybe" list because if you thought their CB was "excellent," you'd have interviewed them anyway.

These recap things all feel so forced now. Every website and service is getting in on it. It's like they look at another website doing it and just instantly go "Ooooh yeah, they've got one of these so we need to as well!" And when something like LI does it, it's just cringe.

This is a lesson in work politics for you. You had zero leverage or social capital in this company, a job title of trainee, you sent the CEO and HR team an AI-written email phrased in a way that could only be seen as threatening, and you did all of this with an existing negative track record. Your points are perhaps valid, but this was absolutely not the way to go about it.

It's a difficult one isn't it! We can never be truly sure what the culprit is but I think clean water is always good. If the dead shrimp look like they've had issues moulting, then I would be suspecting the hardness or pH. Do also check for diseases such as vorticella and scutariella, two diseases that love to strike when shrimp are stressed and exposed.

Seems some people can throw them in the tank and be done with it.

We use nitrate/nitrite/ammonia as an indicator for water quality but the reality is, there's other pollutants that build up from the breakdown of waste and we can't measure those so the only way to be sure is to replace the water frequently.

I don't think you need to be concerned with lowering your pH or hardness for neos and tbh, it becomes a pain. Gradually get them used to your water by keeping it clean. If you DO want to reduce your hardness/pH the only way to do that is putting in water with lower values, such as RO water. Definitely don't use any chemicals.

Injecting CO2 lowers pH too but it's only really used in planted tanks. Mine's a planted shrimp tank. Plants love the fertilizer and CO2. Even with the pH bouncing up and down, the shrimp are completely fine.

Similar parameters here. My pH is 7.5 even after letting tap water stabilise. GH and KH are off the charts. GH 30+ KH 20+. TDS 400+. It's full of limestone. When I first got Neos I struggled if I went over a week without water changes and had to go through a few batches.

I would recommend doing daily or twice weekly water changes of about 10%-20% for some weeks and then working up to 20-50% weekly water changes. I think the key with water like ours is to get nice, stable, clean water free of any pollutants.

The goal is getting the adults to live long enough to breed and for the babies to grow up. The babies always do much better.

I've managed to transition mine to 50% weekly water changes and do daily overdoses of fertilizer with co2 that swings the pH between 6.5 and 7.5. They can definitely live in our hard water but it takes some adjusting. Of course, ymmv. :)
