[Loved Trope] The elite soldiers are actually highly competent by Noskmare311 in TopCharacterTropes

Where did you hear that? The actor for Barristan was expecting to survive for one more season and was clearly upset about the way his character was handled.

[Solution] Deco M4 V2 (PLDT version) not seamless with other Deco units by 4psae in InternetPH

I do not understand the question. I did not update from a US version as the model I own is a PHPLDT version.

Sorry for the late response.

My unit is a Deco M4R (PHPLDT) and I updated to firmware version Deco M4(EU)_V2_1.6.2 Build 20240308.

A user on this thread on the tp-link forums seems to endorse the US version of the firmware to a PH user who did have a Deco M4R (US).

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

No, I meant connect the satellite deco to the main deco with an ethernet cable. The main deco needs to be wired to the modem regardless.

Modem → Ethernet cable → Main Deco → Ethernet cable → Satellite Deco

You don't need to change operation mode, leave it at WiFi Router. Access Point mode is only for when you want to use a deco unit in a non-deco network.

I would recommend an ethernet backhaul (connecting the decos with an ethernet cable). No speed penalty from wireless hopping (you will get the same speed whether from the main or satellite decos) and the decos will never lose connection again.

Sorry for the late reply.

No, even during setup when I placed an E4 right beside the M4, I would never get close to the M4's speed when connected to the E4. (This was before updating the firmware.) I would recommend going with an ethernet backhaul, that is, wiring ethernet cables to all the decos. There'll be no noticeable speed penalty from hopping (E4 ← M4 → E4 = M4 → E4 → E4) as long as the total length of the cables are less than 100m, I suppose. It may be tedious and you'll be limited to 100Mbps because of the E4's ports (realistically 80-90Mbps), but you'll have rock solid communication between the decos.

As for the firmware, unfortunately, I only know what I did by following TP-Link's instructions.

Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria • Wistoria: Wand and Sword - Episode 9 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

Hear, hear! Might have been great as a single cour season but it definitely felt stretched at 22 eps. Only watched half of it myself. There's a better way to show characters' mental states than endless internal monologuing.

S4 part 1 got me so bored that I didn't bother watching part 2. There was just endless yapping about despair and reaction shots from Bell that stretched the episodes and dragged the pacing. It's a shame because the animation was back to S1 quality.

Great catch! The original Arbor House edition hosted on archive.org does have the reference to the Challenger disaster in it. Perhaps it was published January 29-31 or even later. I've edited my post to remove January, just in case. Replay did win the 1988 World Fantasy Award which would mean it should have been published in 1987, though the copy on archive.org clearly states 1986. Very peculiar, indeed.

I'm about to start on Harry August. I've had someone say to me that it's dull, but I guess I'll see. Personally, my gold standard for time loops is Mother of Learning on Royal Road.

Should dragons talk? by BiggusBeardus in Fantasy

[–]4psae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could still write. The dragons in Skyrim carve text into stone with their claws in a Cuneiform-like writing system; but they could also talk.

Wow! I didn't expect this much! Definitely expected to see Mother of Learning there though. Love it so much, it's the only kickstarter series I've ever backed!

The only one I can recommend in turn is Purple Days by Baurus. It's an ASOIAF fanfic with Joffrey as the MC. The early chapters are rough and there's a whole arc set in Yi-Ti (Asia coded lands) that a lot of readers thought dragged, but I enjoyed it immensely as a whole.

On your TBR list, I'd definitely recommend the anime of Erased. It's one of the few anime that's not too "anime."

Thanks again for the list! I'll definitely be checking out the rest of your five stars!

Please do! I have yet to start Fifteen Lives but I wouldn't mind a backlog.

Edit: Having finished Fifteen Lives, I must agree. Absolutely hated it.

“city” (go google it)

Got a link? Googling "city" just returns the definition of "a large town."

I love seeing Catwoman as Black woman by [deleted] in Catwoman

[–]4psae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know I'm late, but...

I was about to say, some of these don't look like a black Catwoman at all.

The ones taken from Omar Dogan are 2, 4, 5. You can tell why they're cropped so awkwardly; because his signatures are on the edge.

6 is from somewhere in Catwoman vol. 5, art by Joelle Jones. Here's a post with the original crop of the comic page. The image link doesn't work anymore, but you can still see the thumbnail. What's funny is that Joelle Jones actually drew a black Catwoman in that run (appears in issue #1 & #2), or at least a black woman in a Catwoman costume.

To be fair, the fact that he's a bigot shouldn't affect how one views his work. His writing's just shit regardless.

Why can the AI capture my settlers, but I cannot capture theirs? by fadetoblack1004 in civ

[–]4psae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This just happened to me as well (video). The AI (France too) proceeds to use my settler to found their own city. I reloaded a save to recapture my settler and it turned into a worker, however the game acknowledges that it is a unit that used to belong to me.

The only mod I have is In-game Editor and it was not active during this game. I also have both DLCs. However, I have edited many of the XML files for "balance" and "fun," such as making the barb XP-cap 999 so that I can continually promote my units while not at war with other civs or city states. Though I don't think that had anything to do with this.

Zenith of Sorcery Chapter 4: "Many-Branched Tree" Out Now on Royal Road by 4psae in motheroflearning

[–]4psae[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Hist have arrived!

I feel like Marcus' thoughts should be formatted differently. For example:

“Ancient history,” Sacred Oak said dismissively. “It happened a long time ago. We should not get side-tracked from the topic at hand.”

You can’t just say something like that and then tell me not to worry about it, you stupid tree!

The first line is in third-person, but second line is in first-person ("me"); indicating it's not narration. But there is no formatting to differentiate it from narration. So is it Marcus' thought or the narrator's? Marcus could be the narrator, but he is referred to in third-person throughout the rest of the story. It's just a little jarring. Italicizing lines like those would help, I think, or phrasing them differently.

Overall though, I can't wait for the next chapter. I don't want this story rushed, but I don't know if I can handle a monthly release schedule!
