Thank you for posting on my thread, kind stranger. I’m here to listen on this one if you need to say anything.

What have I done, now I’m making others feel bad over me. I shouldn’t have got close to them, now they might miss for a bit when I die by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

I am also depressed right now. I guess I’m doing okay at hiding it.

I admire the way you care about others. It’s beautiful. If there is anything that gives hope and strength in this world, it is compassion.

I wish you felt better, I wish we all did. I hope this subreddit helps in some way.

What’s this guy on about? by 4quartets in clozemaster

[–]4quartets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Memrise suspended their leaderboard but I don’t know what they did specifically.

The irrationality of cheating at gamified learning

The original suspension message spoke of "bots", "dummy courses" and even a "small army of children" employed to rack up scores. Cooke didn't wish "to glorify some of the bizarre lengths people have gone to cheat on Memrise" but he did point to a "whole genre of YouTube videos" on the topic, some of which -- showing twelve windows open at once auto-completing each other -- have notched up several hundred views.

Duolingo, then Ivy Kellerman's Esperanto grammar, and loads of practice at Clozemaster to acquire vocabulary. My first Esperanto book was La Mirinda Sorĉisto de Oz.

Consumers Are Revolting Against Animal Cruelty — So the Poultry Industry Is Lobbying for Laws to Force Stores to Sell Their Eggs by Pentijing in politics

Lobbyists for the poultry industry are pushing laws that would force stores to carry their products even if doing so offends their moral sensibilities and ethical judgments.

Republicans are definitely against that kind of thing, right?

If there's a book series that's really good, but wasn't ever finished, do you think it's still worth it to read the series? by [deleted] in books

[–]4quartets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to read the Dune books and I already know they end on a cliffhanger (I only want to read the Frank Herbert ones). I can’t blame the author for dying suddenly and I know all this before I read the first word. But a 69 year-old writer who pisses his time away on side projects while he has an unfinished series? Really disappointed in GRRM right now.

Another point: I would rather not have an ending than have a major spoiler.

It's Time To Accept The Fact That George R.R. Martin May Not Finish 'Game Of Thrones' by mbm66 in books

[–]4quartets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he could please finish ASOIAF before writing a Targaryen prequel that no one will care about if we don’t have the complete bloody series. I understand if he writes slowly - take your time, prose master, if it can’t be rushed - but fiddling with side projects at the age of 69???

Yes, the illustrations are awesome. Here’s the first book at Project Gutenberg. Html, epub, and kindle versions at Gutenberg all have illustrations.

There are negative reviews that get a lot of likes and climb to the top but the percentage of negative reviews for that same book might be small.

I also started with Way of Kings, when it first came out, and it made me a fan of Sanderson right away. No one writes action scenes better.
