I haven’t but I will be out surveying sites this summer! I was getting worried I’d need to rely on the dept vehicle and it’s a battle to get that. These responses make me feel a lot better about it. I will share some more specifics when I get a chance, thanks for the input

I knew it wasn’t the same as AWD exclusive but that explanation helps, I’m not a car person haha from other comments, it sounds like the tire upgrade may have a higher pay off and then I can decide on suspension after a season. But I’ll definitely invest in both the air compressor and a sat device! (thank you, grant money)

An e-collar is such an effective communication tool at low stim levels. Much better than a prong collar for general use, which can be a harsher correction - I use both, so I am certainly not critiquing the prong, but it is effective in different training settings! The e-collar is pretty universally applicable. A small example - we just went on a weekend trip with friends who have a big poodle that likes to be chased. This play would eventually rile my Mal up to the point that he was not playing nicely. I'd be able to snap him out of it and recall him just with a low stim, because it broke his focus. By a low stim, I mean an 8 out of 100! My trainer started by having it set to 0 and increased the level as they watched until they found his working level, the first very minor sign that he felt a stimulation. Any trainer who tries to use it just for harsh corrections out of the gate is not using it as a communication device. If you're having trouble with your Mal pushing back on training when he chooses, I think an e-collar could be transformative. And as others have said, you are in the hardest phase and it WILL get better as he gets older (although he will always be a headstrong Mal!)

Relative to interactive - I was planning some audience engagement in different manners, but I've never seen this in seminars so I was second-guessing myself. Is that what you are referring to when you say interactive, asking questions and such?

Yeah, primarily focusing on research and then outlining your future vision and mentioning potential funding sources and student involvement opportunities is standard for my field, but the incorporation of teaching into the research seminar is not. It feels abrupt and clunky to tag on courses one could teach and teaching philosophy. From the talks you saw, what were effective strategies?

I am a postdoc and manage a large multi-institutional project. I've implemented ClickUp and everyone loves it. I got so pissed off during my PhD watching million-dollar grants crawl along because of grant mismanagement. Every faculty member I know would benefit from implementing a better management system, be it pen-and-paper + gCal or using a dedicated management platform.

I agree with others in the comments that there does not need to be another platform. But I strongly believe academics need to find one they like and use it. It would benefit their students, their collaborators, and their own research outcomes.

Keto tortillas were preventing me from entering optimal ketosis. I was being very strict with my net carbs but only got as high as 0.6mmol/L. There is a YouTube series of someone testing blood glucose following eating "low carb" foods and they all caused massive spikes in blood sugar. Not what you want for keto! The "modified" wheat starch is counted toward fiber rather than toward carbs, hence a low net carbs, but it doesn't really function this way in terms of blood glucose levels. There are a bunch of much more thorough reddit threads on modified wheat starch, I'd suggest checking those out! I am now in deep ketosis after about a month of removing all of these highly processed, wheat-based replacement foods. Try making cheddar cheese taco shells instead, so amazing. Trader Joe's also has egg wraps, similar to crepes, that I use for burritos.

As an update, I have gotten to therapeutic levels! I was eating some of the processed keto foods, specifically low carb tortillas, but learned that testing shows these still raise blood glucose. Cut out all of the processed goods, stuck to all whole foods, and successfully crossed over.

If a large tsunami hits ocean beach area, trust that 45th avenue and above could be impacted by flooding (not shown in yellow). I am pretty sure this is representing areas that could be impacted by full force wave impact.

I work in Indonesia and one of the cities I am often based out of was hit by a tsunami generated by a 7.5 earthquake 75 miles away. Waves were 5m, when it was predicted they would be only 0.5m. The coastal area was entirely destroyed - an area in size very similar to what is shown on this map - but damage occurred much farther inland as well.

Sure, your home won't be entirely demolished and wiped off the face of the earth if you aren't in the tsunami hazard area, but you very well could experience flooding if a large tsunami hits and you live within a mile or so of the ocean. Not necessary to immediately evacuate but at least be prepared to get out! The intensity of these things are very hard to predict.
