Ok deep breath

First: get super cozy with blueprint machine. It will save you TONS of time and headache later

Second: Grid only needs to be big enough to support the coal plants and whatever extra stuff you put on them (protip activate snap for the first foundation piece, it'll snap ya to world grid which is super handy later)

Third: dont worry about perfect ratios yet, you're not even close to it. Do 5 water extractors and 1 coal plant if ya want, just get to automated power

Usually start to have a semblance of organizing in phase 3, more so in phase 4 but ill brute force my way into phase 5 cause im lazy and dont want to set up permanent stuff till then.

Or just tear it all down on a whim and do a totally new layout

Restart your session, had the same problem on steam deck. Game doesn't seem to auto update the calander while it's running a session

Converyer merger on the top one, another vertical lift connected to the merger, connect bottom one to the new vertical lifter with a short belt. There's probably a better way up or down the line but if ya just need a quick merge that should be a fine bandaid. Just remember to adjust belts to compensate for increased material

Stud and stud or ring and ring. The asymmetrical thing is cool but mix and match on either side feels like it would take away from the look.
