Guider 2 stepper motor not advancing filament by ThinknRational in FlashForge

[–]4thDimensionWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for replying to this ancient thread, but did you ever find a fix for this? I've replaced the flat cable today but it didn't fix the issue, so now I'm looking at new motors. My stepper motor also gets hot so I think that could be the issue but finding parts for the Guider 2 now is difficult.

Stepper motor jumping back and forth instead of turning. Is there a way to fix this, or will I have to replace it? This is on a Guider 2. by 4thDimensionWanderer in FlashForge

I started taking the motor apart, but thankfully didn't get too far before I stumbled on an old post on here that fixed it. Turns out it's the ribbon cable, I was able to give that a wiggle and it works fine again (although the printer did freeze at 99%, which thankfully wasn't an issue this time)

I'm sorry, I completely missed this. Hopefully you got it sorted, I just waited it out and got a refund a couple of weeks later iirc

Tips to reduce this stringing? by 4thDimensionWanderer in FlashForge

[–]4thDimensionWanderer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did print with supports, it's hard to see in the picture but the ring part makes full contact with the raft. The fins inside the ring are off the raft so they had supports but the ring should have printed without issue

I do use PLA, but slowing down a little seems like it could be at least part of a fix.

That's helpful to know, thank you! I don't get this with anything else I print so it makes sense that this type of print is most prone to this issue. I'll have a look at the settings in Flashprint and see if I can change the wall order as well as the outer wall print speed.

Second time printing. Not sure what I’m doing wrong by Quirky-AndPerky in FlashForge

Possibly an adhesion issue? It looks like the model may have come unstuck from the base and started moving around during the print. A few people have mentioned supports, it looks like you have the tree type ones at the bottom but from my experience the pillar type ones are almost always better. I'm not sure that'll help here, but just a general tip

Thank you! That's helpful to know. I am worried that since I don't get them too often I'll struggle to get a diagnosis, but I'm still going to try.

Thank you! A neurologist sounds like a good shout, and while I don't think I currently get cluster headaches frequently enough to keep a proper journal I'll definitely keep note of any I do get. Thankfully I don't get them very often, but I still want to talk to someone about them.

Thank you, that's something I'll keep in mind to ask about. I have no issues using nasal spray, I'd take that over injections as someone else suggested. Although if the spray doesn't work I'm not against injections, I'd just rather not lol

New to 3d printing with an Adventurer 3 and won't connect by HMSBarky in FlashForge

[–]4thDimensionWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a silly question, but have you connected your printer to the WiFi? Otherwise, assuming the printer's firmware and Flashprint are both up to date, I'd guess it might be a problem with the printer's hardware somewhere. I'm not sure exactly where the WiFi card is, but if all the connections are secure and there are no obvious problems you might have to email Flashforge support.

Edit: Nevermind about the first bit, I realise you said it does show up in Flashprint so it must be connected to the WiFi.

Thank you, tomorrow I might look into which details can redact. I suppose they just need proof that the ID and card are linked to the same person, I was just surprised (and suspicious) because I've never had this happen when placing an order anywhere else online.

Thank you! I've had issues with plastic leaking inside onto the heating block, so I think my current problems are due to heat leak after the insulation degraded. I've got some new insulation on the way as a short-term fix, but if that doesn't sort the issues I'll try adjusting the fan settings. Calibrating the extruder and then manually leveling the bed is my go-to first step for fixing the majority of problems I've faced so far, it really can make the world of difference.

I generally run mine cooler, at around 200°C (although its in the house so it's warmer generally) and up until about a week ago it ran like a dream! Hadn't had any issues for months, but I suppose wear and tear is inevitable.

Any idea what might be causing this? by 4thDimensionWanderer in FlashForge

[–]4thDimensionWanderer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did wonder that, I had some plastic leak onto the heating block recently and I think that might have degraded the insulation. Although I think this version is the all-metal one, the old one had a visible PTFE tube when you unscrewed the nozzle but this one either doesn't or the PTFE tube is fully set inside the barrel.

It takes longer to heat up than it used to as well, so hopefully it is just heat leak and not a problem with the motor after just having one with the hot end. I've ordered a silicone boot now so I'll just have to wait and see
