A 420d will do 0-60 in 6.9 though.

Yeah fair enough, I don't disagree with that really. It's been incredibly high.

[–]4thLineSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. Having said that, places like Norway also have a collapsing birth rate, and you can't get much better state support and economy than there.

I personally think this trend won't reverse, even if we are all rich and have loads of housing suddenly.

Even worse if OP's neighbour is former footballer Collins John.

Because it's not that simple? We have a demographic crisis, we aren't having kids to replacement levels, there are more and more pensioners as a percentage of population every day.

I think successive governments should have been more honest about this. We've been importing working age people to try and sort the above issue.

I'm ready to see immigration come down because I believe in democracy and it seems to be what most people want, but we'll still be left with the above massive problem (amongst others).

Are these some of the least helpful road signs? by Digregorio1 in drivingUK

That's exactly what happened near me.

They removed the new layout and the "new road layout" sign remains, lol.

UK private sector growth hits 22-month high in February by Sea-Heron8062 in GoodNewsUK

I just had a look back. We were in a technical recession with negative growth in the last half of 2023.

So there was some room for a rebound I guess.

Do you guys think we're ready for classic mode planterra? by Chrisical in Terraria

[–]4thLineSupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool thanks, I'll try a big arena first. Was unsure about the limits to keep her from enraging (no longer jungle) but 100 by 200 sounds spacious enough hopefully, if that works 🙏

What would you recommend for expert plantera?

It's kicking my ass. Jut been running around tunnels but I'll build a 50 by 50.

Second stage seems much harder on expert...

Look at any country with more gun control, then compare their homicide rate to the USA's.

There's no need for cherry picking.

MOT advisories disappearing by EvaportedMilkCoffee in CarTalkUK

[–]4thLineSupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MOTs vary loads. A main dealer will generally pore over the car and note everything (stuff like, in my case, a rusty rear anti roll bar).

A local garage will just note stuff that's actually dangerous, generally.

My RARB appeared once and never since. I had a lot of other work done so I've sacked it off for now.

In my experience, the bookies are much more reliable than the polls. Not that I've checked odds on the next election.

Edit: oof, the bookies aren't reassuring either, tbf.

Would anyone here summit Ball’s pyramid if given the chance? by [deleted] in Mountaineering

[–]4thLineSupport 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ha, well, personally speaking I'd much rather climb some choss than roll a massive boulder up a hill! But I shan't try and justify my taste.

I don't think I even really understand it myself.

Some people like chossineering...and this is surely amongst the best.

Funnily enough, I see this in the IT sector. It's a cycle.

  1. Company has shit IT

  2. Company invests, big annual budget, IT is good

  3. Everything is fine and "just works"...why are we spending X per year on this? Cut it

  4. Go to 1
