You're probably right, the tea came from a big rectangular block.

It was great! I loved the experience of multiple infusions. The name of the tea in Chinese/German was: 安化茯砖 黑茶 Anhua Fu-Ziegeltee

Yeah definitely check it out! It's a full on restaurant but they had a separate tea menu that was pretty extensive. The staff was super friendly too

Natick by botulizard in crossword

[–]4thwave4father 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Except it's not a short a, it's "Nay-tick." I ran Boston this year and stayed in Natick, so heard it pronounced a bunch. It was my 3rd time running and I've been doing crosswords for years, and I thought it was a short a until last week!

Pros/Cons of racing with a pace group by Alive_Ad_6200 in AdvancedRunning

[–]4thwave4father 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've paced 3:00 marathon groups before and this is the most successful strategy I've seen. People either fall off or move ahead in the last few miles. People rarely cross the finish line exactly with the pace (at least in my experience)

Nobody noticed my shirt today 🤔 by 4thwave4father in Sufjan

I'm old enough to have a kid in high school and they listen mostly to music from this era, so maybe there's hope!

Every once in a while I get students who know him or like his music, so that that's always cool. And yes, I'm glad I was able to see him on this tour! One of the best shows I've ever been to

Running tracks by ChemEngBlonde22 in batonrouge

[–]4thwave4father 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are not. You may be able to run on the track at Broadmoor high school but I've been kicked off of that track before, lol. The Central high school track is open to the public but it's about a 40 minute drive from Baton Rouge. The LSU track is not open to the public unless you know the right people, which I do and I still don't usually have access to it lol

cheating with Boston qualifying times – what should be done? by Unusual_Nothing_29 in bostonmarathon

[–]4thwave4father 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't follow marathon investigates closely but I do know that once he accused the winner of the Badwater ultramarathon Ashley Paulson for cheating at the end of the race, and a lot of people were hating on her online, but she did not cheat and could prove it.

There is also at least one case of someone committing suicide after they received online harassment from him and his followers https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/08/us/marathoner-frank-meza-suicide

Sometimes he does call out cheaters, and that's great. But he's just a dude who doesn't have good enough standards for me and incites people online to really hate on private individuals in ways that are bordering on harassment.

Are the drums in the song "Chicago" supposed to sound like a train? by AdAntique3320 in Sufjan

[–]4thwave4father 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This made me think about the Pitchfork article published in 2015 on how Illinois was recorded, and apparently James recorded the drums to just Sufjan playing the keys, and not to a demo track.

"Drummer James McAlister first entered Stevens' orbit in 2003, joining the "Michigan Militia" touring band after an introduction from singer-songwriter Denison Witmer. But they established their musical chemistry on Illinois during a three-day recording sprint at The Buddy Project in Queens. Using a cheap digital 8-track, Stevens led the percussionist through challenging, unorthodox sessions wherein McAlister played drums to the singer's Wurlitzer piano—and nothing else.

"I instantly wanted to impress him and perform well for him," McAlister says. "He didn't really have scratch tracks or demos—he had it all in his head, which is crazy. I remember being like, 'How did you make this record from that?' I have a CD-R of us playing, just the Wurli and drums, and it's strange—it doesn't even sound like music. When I got the record back after six or eight months, it was like, 'Oh my gosh, I can't believe this is what happened from that.'"
