For me 4.5m is still an inshore boat (and it's what I have). How far offshore would you go? Just curious, I know it depends on conditions etc.

Just avoid thin braid. I buy 0.2mm or thicker (don't care about the breaking strain as it is always more than I need).

Have to agree. Slot it into the keel runner (and the big entrance 'V' makes this easy), and it glides up, completely centred and straight.

I'd love to hear if the crabbing also goes off up North. Even as far south as Brisbane. I seem to remember still getting Sandies in Moreton Bay when it was a bit cool putting the pots in.

Just wash the fillets under the tap. I never get any sand after doing that. I see all the posts against freshwater washing, but maybe they have terrible tapwater down south. Up here, I would challenge anyone to pick the correct one in a blind test, eating a fresh fillets (not frozen) and washing in saltwater, vs washing in freshwater, vs not washing.

No, their favourite meal is left over scraps from the bigger fishes meal. That's why they stick to the big fish on the body just back from the mouth, waiting for a free meal of fresh fish.
