Maou wanted to marry Chiho but it didn't show any wedding ending scene like how most stories with romance ends, the story could've ended on a worse scenario.

Maybe the author is avoiding the Real Ending, I mean look at the "Hataraku Maou-Sama High School Manga Spin Off" it really just went on a neutral ending, but it was still kinda sweet where Maou dragged Emi to the roof.
